Gamecast has it at 4 line drive outs for the Sox so far. Are these hard hit balls or humped back liners?

 

There has been nothing so far that rembles a base hit. This is a tired bunch.

Not hard to figure out. Holoday for Leon is the day game after a night game thing at catcher. Young is in for Benintendi; Holt was the only other choice and he's has been scuffling. Ortiz was a planned day off.

 

The team has had 1 day off since July 18, that was the day after 11 games on the West Coast and they've spent 2 of the past 3 weeks on the road.. They all need some time off.

 

What they really need is a couple of rain outs in a row.

Our manager has managed the end of a few of these games very poorly when we have had the lead. Yesterday's bullpen management was very bad. The bullpen gave us 3 innings with 1 run, which came on the last play of the game. He should have gone to his late inning guys Ziegler and Kimbrel and let them earn their money.

That's reasonable (although per the play-by-play on Gamecast, Hill has lined out to center twice and seen a bunch of pitches; no idea if those liners were hard hit or not).

Finally, a real hard hit single. And by the way, Rich Hill thjrew 6 inning, 3 hits, no runs, 0 walks 3 K's last night against the Giants. they going to let Pomeranz slip away that easy?

To be fair, A700 was talking about it in the game thread as it happened. Not hindsight in his case.

 

Given how the bullpen has been, a decision either way is not necessarily wrong. Porcello was coming off of 3 rocking chair innings and the pen was ready. Unfortunately, the decision made didn't work
