That looked like it hit dirt and then the foot. Is that not challengeable?

it actually doesnt matter if it hit the ground first. it can roll 60' and if it hits you its a HBP. conversely you can hit a bounced pitch over the fence and it's a HR. Vlad Guerrero has done this....

Vlad would swing at anything and many times make good contact. Too bad he had bad wheels.

I blame this win on JF. but since it needs to be a player i blame this win on Clay.

tired Clay = good Clay. keep that bitch up all night the day before his starts....

the ortiz play was ridiculous. the umpires need to explain themselves. from the rulebook (6.05):

If a batter strikes at a ball and misses and swings so hard he carries the bat all the way around and, in the umpire's judgment, unintentionally hits the catcher or the ball in back of him on the backswing before the catcher has securely held the ball, it shall be called a strike only (not interference). The ball will be dead, however, and no runner shall advance on the play.

What mojo? Like everyone else, I'm fascinated by what these guys are doing right now and delighted with what they are accomplishing. Baseball can do that, especially the kind played by our Sox in the John Henry era. No 86 year waits for us.

On the batter interference:

Rules 6.03(a)(3) and (4) Comment (Rule 6.06© and (d)

Comment):

"If a batter strikes at a ball and misses and swings so hard he

carries the bat all the way around and, in the umpire’s judgment,

unintentionally hits the catcher or the ball in back of him

on the backswing, it shall be called a strike only (not interference).

The ball will be dead, however, and no runner shall

advance on the play"

So not interference in terms of the batter, but runners must return.

Farrell and the coaching staff deserve some criticism for not arguing this call a little more. It ended up not mattering, but that's beside the point. That was clearly not interference and Farrell (and the umps) should know this.

Why is it that we get the goofiest looking mother f***ers on our pitching staffs?

We have the above mentioned Garden Nome, Horseface Part Deux ( Hembree ) , and Beaver Boy Ross.

LOL Kimbrel does look like a Garden Gnome.

I have always thought that Hembree looks a lot like Lackey.

Clay is on a mission to make your baseball life a living nightmare. ;)

No no no... Clay is on a mission to prove me right and to get a really great sig for Bell.

Good stuff, as always, Kimmi.

Yes, we call Lackey Horseface ( not to be confused with Texeira ). Hence Hembree is Horseface Part Deux.
