To me, I think every bullpen arm could be available tonight as no one out there has had more than one appearance over the past 3 games.

Buchholz pitched or 3 innings on Sunday, so he technically may be available. However, I would probably not bring him in unless this goes to extras.

If the Sox are ahead by more than 3 runs, I would warm Ross in the 7th and go from there. If the game gets too close, bring in Ziegler and Kimbrel.

If the Sox are ahead by less than 3 runs, I go straight to Taz in the 7th, Ziegler in the 8th and Kimbrel in the 9th.

If the Sox are down, I bring Ross in to put out the fire and have Barnes/Abad finish the rest of the game.

Do you guys think putting Benintendi 9th is the best slot for him? I know Farrell said that he wants Beni hitting right before Betts, but I think my line up (if Hanley is out) would be:

Betts

Pedey

Bogaerts

Ortiz

JBJ

Hill

Shaw

Beni

Leon

I'm only putting Hill up that high because I didn't want the lineup to go 3 straight lefties Ortiz-JBJ-Shaw.

As for Porcello, last time out was his best start. Thankfully, he got to pitch against a AAAA lineup that also featured Mike Trout. Seattle has the 3rd most HR's in all of MLB, but is middle 3rd for most other batting stats. Key will be not giving up the long ball. Porcello has not given up a HR over his previous 3 starts. If he can continue that trend, the Sox should win this one.

we need to win this one or Harmony will be posting Seattle stats from here to eternity.

as for the relief pitching. we should probably have kimbrell warming up after the first BB/hit of the game, no?

From the little I've seen, one is too many. Has anyone checked his SO numbers? I can see him on the bench and getting acquainted. I can see him in L in a 10-2 game. In th late innings of a close game? Hardly.

Someone did wonder if we could convert Kimbrel to a starter on here recently.

Maybe?

I leave Porcello in through the 5th no matter what. You start the game, you own it. If he gives up 6 runs in the first, just let him keep going and don't completely obliterate the pen. They will be out West until Sunday night. They have Monday off, but flying from the West Coast back to the East Coast is f***ing terrible.

Post your ideas on how to utilize the bullpen now so that you don't get questioned about it later.

Only put in pitchers who do not allow hits, walks, or runs.

Never trust a LOOGY.

I would say, only trust a LOOGY against a guy who absolutely stinks against lefties.

Can't really say, not knowing what the game situation will be.

But since we hypothesizing, Porcello goes 8 innings, Kimbrel comes in for the close.

Don't take too long, I think Farrell had to go, thats why it took him so long to go to the mound last night. Just saying

Gee, with Pedroia having the night off it would have been good to call up Moncada for the night so many here could sploodge copious amounts of bodily essence.
