There is nobody I am rooting to succeed now more than Wright. Such a great story how someone can be an average guy and master a pitch that nobody else in the world is currently mastering (except for that Dickey guy).

 

The biggest goal right now should be to stay ahead of Toronto in the standings, since they were projected by everyone to finish 1st. We are currently 3 games ahead of them. I'm not going to worry about Baltimore unless they get a few games ahead of us.

@redsoxstats Only 3 of Wright's pitches have been over the plate in the bottom half of the strikezone. Everything up in the zone.

 

that's where knuckleballers tend to live IIRC. It's a high risk pitch, but if it's dancing, hitters can't square it up resulting in a lot of weak flyball contact. At least that's how it played out when Wake was having a good night.

 

Combine that with our strong defensive outfield and Wright living up in the zone plays to his strengths more than he plays against them.

exactly. that's also why when they are squared up they usually end up being majestic HR's......
