Even though it looks like we're going to lose this series, you've got to love what we've seen from our rookie pitching. All three of them did very good.

Probably ERod won't be an ace or even a No. 2, but if he becomes a solid No. 3, we shall be very happy.

Napoli striokes out looking for 3d out. What's new? How f----g long are they going to wait for this guy to wake up?

Eduardo Rodriguez (i.e. Our Ace) vs C.C. Sabathia (aka "Fatassia")

Go Red Sox! Take the Series. The fans still care. The players still care. Farrell and the coaching staff need to get their heads out of their asses and give a winning effort. Stop sending runners to their deaths on stupid plays. Stop pitching Breslow. Stop playing Napoli. And for goodness sakes give a take sign to our .100 hitter on 3-0 when he is leading off an inning.

My post starting the game thread. Get someone else in the lineup, Farrell!

At least the last 2 games were well-played.

Except the offense tonight..... and maybe Hanley not getting to the hit that allowed the run........

If he stays healthy, I don't think anybody can predict how good he might be. Might be more mental than physical. He throws hard, he is very young, and he looks like a good sized linebacker when compared to most of our pitchers. He could be very good.

Why the f*** doesn't Shaw get more play time?

We have signed journeymen infielders and journeymen outfielders who someone in their infinite wisdom thinks should be getting the playing time that some younger players are getting.

Shaw hit .249 w/ 5 HR in Pawtucket this year.

Yeah, he had a great weekend.

People act like they're holding back the next Mo Vaughn.

It has looked like pretty much all this year that he's trying to hit a hr every single time he's up. I don't know if this is different from what he has done in past years because I hadn't watched him since he left boston, but it hasn't worked so well for him this year. He was never a huge hr guy before as he only has one season over 30 hrs. He has power, but I don't know if he can be a huge hr hitter. I would much rather him be a mid 20 hr guy with a good obp and doubles numbers. I hope the sox didn't tell him before the season that they were expecting him to hit loads of hrs and negatively impacted his swing by doing so.

It sounds like his approach has been different this year, and it sounds like it's all on Hanley. I wonder how much playing at Fenway with the monster affects a hitter's thinking. Here's what Farrell had to say about Hanley:

"I think there's been times his swing has gotten big," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "This is something that a number of us have spoken with Hanley about to try to get some sense of the approach at the plate. He's typically been such a good line drive hitter and a high number of doubles. Almost 2-to-1 doubles to home runs. And yet right now it's reversed. So whether that's a mindset and approach to think about more power rather than being a contact hitter with hard line drive ability, we're still trying to work at the root of that.

"And if that mindset has created some habits where there's the attempt to loft the ball more and not be the pure hitter that he's been known for, that's what we're repeatedly trying to work with him to get back to."

One off season acquisition that I have enjoyed while he has been healthy is Hannigan. He's been decent offensively and solid defensively.

Agreed. Hanigan has been one of the bright spots this year. I hope Vazquez is healthy next season. I am looking forward to a Vazquez/Hanigan tandem.

It stinks to lose, but in the bigger picture, having those 3 guys pitch well against a team that has been scoring a lot of run lately is promising.

We lost because of the piece of s*** A-Rod and the traitor. This loss stings a little bit for me.

Every game in which ARod contibutes to a Yankees win really makes me sick.

The offense scored a whopping 6 runs in this series. Last night's game really ticked me off. I can't believe that the Sox could not score more than ONE stinking run against CC. It's CC for crying out loud! He stinks! Eduardo deserved better.
