Once again, for the millionth time. Masterson was injured last year and pitched like crap. Why was Ben remotely interested in bringing him back, and for anything more than minimum wage. The onus was on Masterson to prove he could still pitch.

I actually liked the idea of bringing him back, and was fairly happy to see him. BUT, as you said, ONLY on a

And yes, NativeBostonian, I also think Ben has lost his job. He put together a crap team. That's his job and his responsibility.

This is probably my least favorite sox team of all time... Very few guys on this team that are easy to root for, while most of them are overpaid, and/or suck ass.

Tomorrow night put all 25 names in a hat and play whatever lineup you pull out, even if it's a pitcher.

Good idea. I like to see Joe Kelly hit.

I don't know about there being very few to root for -- Betts, Bogaerts, Pedroia, Holt, Swihart, Rodriguez, Taz, Koji... heck, I even like rooting for Buchholz (glutton for punishment, I guess). But there are certainly an inordinate number of guys that are actively hard to root for: Panda, Nap, Porcello, Masterson, Hanley...

The major thing that is costing Ben his job, is he was so stubborn when putting together this staff. He was so insistent that you could win with a bunch of 4 and 5s. An ace was a silly and stupid investment.

No playoffs 5 of the last 6 years. The real problem is having meaningless baseball in august and september 3 of the last 4 years.

What hacks me off (or grinds my gears, to stay in the Talksox framework) is that we have the skeleton of a really good team here. Bogaerts and Betts are just studs. Pedey's still more or less got it, Swihart looks good for a promoted-too-fast catcher, Hanley can mash if you can get him off the field, etc. But there's so much garbage that it's hard to see that skeleton coming alive anytime soon.

I guess what I meant is all the s***** old guys make it hard to watch this team. Like I cannot stand watching almost any of these pitchers and the amount of runners that Panda, Nap and Hanley strand is infuriating. I feel like every game, Mookie, Xander and Holt get on, only for middle of order to kill rally.

Miley was very ordinary in the NL, facing a pitcher a couple of times each start. Let's trade and give him an extension, no questions asked.

Porcello has been a 3 at best, let's give him an extension, no questions asked, and at $20mil a pop.

Sandoval's good in the playoffs but not much else, let's give him a contract.

Hanley wants to come back. He's a shiftless player whose heart and baseball IQ are in question - let's shoehorn him into LF where he's never played before. Half his games in front of a huge wall? No problem.

At least he made a good move by trading a proven starter in Lackey for studs like Joe Kelly and Allen Craig

Furthermore, asaide 2013, when was the last time we won a PO game?

Oh, I hear you. It's all the more frustrating because watching the young guys is so exciting and then the others take a big ol' steaming... well, you get the idea.

We needed our FO to look at Kelly, and go...........Not a Starter......

We needed our FO to look at Masterson, and go ............ career is done........

We needed our FO to look at Buch, and go.......... half a season at best........

We needed our FO to look at Porcello, and say.......... not a fit.

We needed our FO to look at Hanley, and go .......... not an outfielder........

Etc

Did anyone see that story that said cherrington almost got jacob degrom for kelly shoppach in 2012? That would have been great.

Tomorrow's game with Kelly starting should also be a lot of fun.

Are we going to try to set a franchise record for consecutive losses? Consecutive games where the other team scores first? If so, Joe's our guy!

So me and my family are going down to Boston for the Night Pedro is having his number retired, which Im excited for.. But I just saw Porcello is scheduled to start that day. f***

Think of all those prostaglandins shrinking her pores!!!!

I am such a considerate person.

This might be the worst sox team I've ever seen. Wow. I love Justin Masterson

I'm pretty sure both Ted and I are thinking about this too.

This is beyond putrid.

And to think, it was all by design!!!!!!!

Really. Other teams bring on has been /washed up / reclamation projects from the dumpster and pay them squat with incentives.

The Sox just love to waste money because they don't have any respect for it's value. They are not aware that their clientele are not in the 1% like they are.

Can't wait for TV revenues to plummet. Hope it happens before I croak so I can laugh my fat ass off.
