I'm leaning in the direction of just cutting Masterson. He can't pitch out the pen with his shaky control.

In fairness to the Red Sox, for as long as I can remember they've been the kind of organization that will beat up the other team's ace one night and then get hosed by some random dickhead fresh from the Oregon wilderness the very next day.

 

I am quite a bit older than you, but I have noticed the same thing for decades.

Do you think they will cut them or send them to the pen?

 

Kelly is a power arm on a team that has none. I seem him having plenty of value in the pen.

 

Masterson should serve the purpose of long-man for now. There will be plenty of times when this team needs a guy to soak up innings -- I haven't considered roster implications yet though.

DFA Masterson and Buchholz, move Kelly to pen, keep Porcello in rotation and try some new starters, these one sucks.. I don't even know what to do with Miley, I guess just kill him off.

Kelly has to start pitching the fast balls in the belt high and above range. He throws 96/97 but its down and hittable. If he throws 94 but keeps it in a better location, he will be glorious. he is the perfect 8th/9th inning guy but he walks too many. i would be scared to put him into the closer role but he might either suck or like be an amazing closer.

the gamble on him is over I think. I'd rather see Wright in there.

I am disappointed that Masterson has not worked out regardless of how much was spent on getting him.

 

I was hoping that he would be able to regain his former form after such a terrible injury ridden season.

 

They pretty much need to bring up Rodriguez next week.
