Masterson stinks.

 

d-money, there were some who were very skeptical about Masterson's signing last winter and it wasn't welcomed on this board by more than a handful of the most over-optimistic people. The fact that even Francona didn't want him anymore last year and the Cards shunted him off the roster for the Playoffs make have spoke volumes. His velocity seems down and the second time through the lineup seems to bring out the best in the opposition. Still, let's see him two or three times more and hope he gets it together. We still were able to win tonight and that trumps all.

Jason---you have to believe that Cherington is thinking the same thing right about now if he has anything between his ears. We know we got a hot and cold Buchholz; what we may get from Masterson may be less than that. We need pitching.....6-2 or not, we need pitching.

We could use a good rubber armed long reliever to go along with this rotation -- someone like Aceves used to be.

 

Anyone out there still think we don't need another solid pitcher or two? This game and the one Sunday should have disavowed anyone who thought not.

Tough win tonight. Bogaerts, Pablo and Castillo all hurting. Masterson got shelled and certainly isn't helping an exhausted bullpen.

I don't know how serious Pablo's injury is but if he is out for a few games or a couple of weeks (let's hope not) it might afford Alan Craig a chance to see some action against lefthanders with Nava in against righties. Good to have this depth. My overriding concern though is the pitching. Masterson didn't evoke any confidence on my part anymore than Clay did Sunday.

I did not ridicule anyone. He was hurling threats to both Kimmi and myself and then insulted Kimmi.

 

I get that you two are buds. That does not mean that you have to turn blind eyes to his antagonistic and condescending attitude towards other members.

 

He certainly is not acting as much of a Dean. He should be sent to the corner of the room or to the Principle's office.

 

I generally get along with most people here and I have endured my share of criticism and even what you may call ridicule.

 

I'm still here. Of course I don't go around trying to force my opinion on others by repeating the same "missives" over and over and over again then insult the assaulted.

 

I posted a pic of Goober Pyle in response to Kimmi's post. If Fred can't laugh at himself over something really mild and stupid like that then he should just keep to himself.

Pete, I think you have the sequence of events mixed up. The ridicule I.e., the Goober remark followed by the picture (you know if it was meant as ridicule) preceded the insults according to my reading of things.

I just think that a Man should have thicker skin and more self control than Fred has displayed. Threatening other posters is just very childish over something as silly as this.

 

I remember being labeled the Whitest Member on this board and everyone thought it was just a riot. Not me. But I took it in stride and laughed at it.

 

I doubt that anyone really thinks that Fred is like Goober. It was a silly joke and could have been taken that way. But Fred has this idea that we all owe him more respect because he is older or for whatever reason. He has proclaimed that he is "The Dean".

 

I have no idea why he sees himself this way. Especially when he over reacts as he did tonight.

 

And while I am on the subject of poor behavior, I think Fred's attacks on this new guy Cycles are unfounded and inappropriate. That guys has been pretty reasonable since he joined from what I can see. If he were Dutchy, Yaz or Youk would have banned him by now.

I am not defending everything he says or does. I am just pointing out that the ridicule started by kimmi and piled on by you came first in this instance. Not everyone reacts as well to ridicule as you do. You didn't like his reaction, and I am not defending it. I am just pointing out that ridiculing someone as " a Goober " is also childish, and it knocks you off any moral high ground to complain about his reaction.
