You just don't understand logic. It's tragic really. So, let me break things down for you into itty bitty pieces so your tiny little brain can process.

Clay Buchholz has proven to be fragile. He's missed time in every one of his seasons and his IP max was 170. He is signed to a big money contract, but when you consider that he's not making 10-15 of his starts a year, that money could be used elsewhere. If Clay had one solid, healthy season, it might push his trade value up to where he'd get a good return on his value before another injury cropped up. He was on his way to a very solid, ace like season last yr. Knowing his history, he wasn't going to be able to sustain that year after year. Had he completed last season with 30+ starts and 200IP, his trade value would have jumped. I think the sox would have sold high on him. But, alas, his shoulder gave way and he couldn't finish, as usual. Now, he's a shell of himself.

Buchholz has 4/44.5 remaining on his contract, with two options. That is not a big money contract. Please share with us this return you imagine Buchholz would fetch with a healthy 2013 season. Do you have any information that suggests the Red Sox were considering it? More likely, it is your inability to discern reality from fantasy at work again.

11 mil per season for a guy who doesn't take the bump is a big money contract. And you are telling me that if Buchholz has a single healthy season, that the sox wouldn't look to move him? This is a theoretical argument since the necessary component of staying healthy didn't occur.

No, because your hypothetical scenario involves him not losing velocity on his fastball. We aren't even having this conversation if he goes through that trajectory.

He's also making short of $8 million this year, and $12 million in 2015. That is not big money for an "ace" coming off a healthy season. Any trade offer would reflect both uncertainty and the potential Buchholz could offer. I doubt someone else could offer enough to make the Red Sox trade him away.

If Buch can right himself and throw 180 innings this season with good numbers, I would trade him. He has had 1 good healthy season for us. I wouldn't expect that will become the norm if he does it this season. I'd sell high.

Can they send him to the DL and let Workman take his spot? He can just work and build up whatever it is he needs to without f***ing up this team every 5th day. Capuano is another option, he has look sharp in his time here. He was insurance once Dempster retired. Now cashed in on that policy.

Buchholtz is clearly high maintenance being fragile both physically and mentally. I believe he should be put on the DL. He never seems ready in the spring except for last year and then he only could go about half the season. Right now I'd prefer Workman or Capuano get the chance at the nbr 5 spot in the rotation.

If Buchholtz wets the bed in his next start, I think the pressure will being on Ben to do something with him.
