I've seen his last start vs Boston and his start vs Toronto. I didn't remember seeing so much movement. It's a good thing, cause he's actually got a good two seamer. The one thing he must do is slow down the change, though. If you're throwing 88-89 with a 4 seamer and 86-87 with the 2 seamer, you can't be throwing 83-84 with the change.

 

Oh yeah, the two seamer is definitely better than it was against Toronto. I thought it was really good vs the Rays and equally good last night vs Boston. And I agree about his changeup, although oddly enough I thought it was a tremendous pitch for him last night. Lots of whiffs and some awkward looking hacks.

It happens. Kuroda throws backwards to a pot of the better hitters in the game, so he really needs the breaking pitches to succeed. Without them, he can't put hitters away either. I knew once Kuroda couldn't put away career scrub Ian Stewart after a ten pitch AB that we'd have a rough night. Couple that with CJ Wilson, who we always seem to struggle against and we didn't have much of a chance.

FOX moved their Saturday games to Fox Sports 1. Trying to give that channel more exposure, I guess.

Couldn't watch, but glad to see JR stepping up. Gamecasted most of it, and it looked like a lot of missed opportunities offensively. Good to see Betances stepping up

Tanaka is a little off thus far, but holding his own. He pitched around Pujols there and seemed to give Kendrick the same treatment in the 1st with most pitches off the outside edge

The splitty hasn't left him today. He's gutting out this performance, but Joe better have the pen ready after 5. He's got a split and nothing else right now

All he has tonight is the split, so they have to take that pitch if they want to score. His fastball is riding high, his slider is hanging, his change is hanging, etc. He's setting guys up and throwing the split to get strikes.

HR! He seems to have just an average fastball. But good splitter and slider.

His FB tops out at 95. He doesn't have the high end fastball and really has no fastball location right now.

This is the first game where he is missing up. He's all over the place with the heat today. He's relied on the split big time today. His first 4 starts, he has had phenomenal FB command. These games happen. And he actually has still been good. 10K through 6IP, but the 4 walks and 4 hits are hurting him
