If Tanaka would have lost: "He's still going to be dominate. We faced the 9th best offense in all of MLB last year"

Tanaka wins: "He beat the number 9th best offense in all of MLB. 20 game winner. Cy Young. He is a god"

Either way, I can't win. Agree to disagree like I said.

Second inning went well, although Sierra nearly got that one out. It's okay to go after the guys without pop up in the zone, but he's gotta be surgical if he wants to get a guy like Bautista up there.

CC threw better. Good location, sitting 89-90, saw a couple 91-92's, and his slider was working. That being said, his lack of velo has made him prone to the big inning. He was cruising when a bloop single started their 3 run rally.

Nova needs to work off his sinker. When he gets cute and tries to K people, he gets dominated. He has front line stuff, but he has to allow it to work. Today was bad, but he'll rebound. I also agree on Jeter. 2 of the first 3 runs were preventable if our SS wasn't made of stone

Well Jacko, we have our own problems in my camp as well. Buchholz pitched like s*** on Saturday and Doubrant pitched like s*** tonight. We on this board who root for the Red Sox can only hope of beg the Gods of Fate that they reverse course before the season starts to slip away----and we need Victorino and Middlebrooks back and we're not getting them for awhile. So many damn injuries already hitting most of the ball clubs. Too much weight lifting creating tight wiry muscles when flexible elongated ones are what's needed in our sport. You're a doctor....how come so many medical people can't see that...like our ******* Red Sox medical staff.

Nova's biggest issue, in my opinion, is the lack of a third pitch. He has completely abandoned the slider, which is fine ... that pitch caused a lot of issues for him, and I understand why he left it behind. But a decent changeup would really help against lefties.

I disagree with dropping the slider y228. That pitch was filthy when he used it sparingly. He developed it and the fell in love with it, got pounded because it wasn't consistent to use it 20% of the time and then stopped using it. I'd rather he work off the sinker and go for more contact and when he gets to two strikes try to use the slider as a strikeout pitch.

Seriously WTF were the Yankees thinking not signing any relievers other than Matt Thornton, a guy who was so bad for us last year (1.76 WHIP) he didn't pitch in the postseason?

With D-Rob on the DL, Shawn Kelley is the closer.

Lost Boone Logan too. However, I don't think a few middle relievers would have moved the needle that much. It just looks that much worse with Robertson being out. Losing a closer of that caliber would hurt every bullpen. They were OK on paper before the season started.

So early in the season but do you notice all the teams in the AL East are bunched up tightly. I wonder which team, if any, is going to break from the crowd or whether we are going to see this tightness in the race last to the very end. It seems a the teams seem to be very close in talent from what I've seen so far.

Not really a surprise that teams aren't separating after 10 games. I don't think the Orioles are that close in talent compared to the Red Sox. The Blue Jays and Yankees are definitely a step below.
