First time coming to Fenway, looking for some advice!!

Hello everyone!

This coming May, a monumental event shall be taking place. I will be turning 30. I am going to be culminating my life's voyage thus far by visiting my mecca, Fenway Park, for the first time. I will be celebrating my birthday, and be in attendance on May the 4th for the game vs. the A's.

I wanted to pick your brains, those of you who have frequented the park and live in the surrounding areas. What would be the best seats in the house to see the game (max 150-175 ticket price, my expenses are going to be pretty high getting up there.) as well as the best hotels that are close by to the park, and other fun things to do around town (including bars) as I will be there from the 1st to the 5th. Also if any of you would like to meet up and hang out or whatever while I'm there that would be awesome!

Any other information that might be helpful please drop some knowledge on me!

Oh and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! I hope it's a fun and safe one for everybody!

NC84, maybe this can help a little. 1---Don't stay in a hotel in Boston---to expensive. Try either the Holiday Inn Express or the Hampton In, both in Cambridge right across the river. You are only two blocks from the "T" Subway station if you stay at the HIE and right across the street if you stay at the HI. You then take the Green Line train to Kenmore station, get off and head to your left and on the first street you come to go left again up the hill and over the bridge and there you are....FENWAY PARK!!!!!! Staying Cambridge is less expensive than the high priced Boston Hotels and if you stay there a couple of days you are only two or three stations from Civic Center, Fanueil Hall and close to the North End where there are the best Italian restaurants in the country.

Tickets can be high, but I would suggest a grandstand seat behind the box seats on the third base side---rows 26-35 would be ideal. First base also ok, though I'm not familiar with that side of the park because I've never sat there in all my trips to Fenway. Those seats are very good. I sat in Row 26, just one row behind the Box seats for the final game of the ALCS this season and for one of the WS games. Sat in the bleachers for the other WS contest---and those seats are not so bad either.

Hope I helped somewhat. It will be the treat of your life to go to Fenway Park. I went one summer afternoon in 2000 for only the second time and came out a diehard Red Sox fan. The field converted me on the spot.

I'm not the one to ask when it comes to bars, but for tickets, anything you can get down the RF or even LF lines is a pretty good seat. You are probably going to want the plastic seats, rather than the wooden ones. I don't live close to Boston, so I can't help with surrounding attractions, but I can provide more info involving the park/the game if you need it.

My wife gave me a trip to Fenway just a couple of years ago. It truly was like a pilgrimage. We stayed the week and seen the sights, and culminated in a game against Toronto. We sat down the Left Field line about 10-15 rows back. I loved it. Great view and just a great experience. We didn't stay in Boston, we stayed in a surrounding town. Drove in and parked in a garage and walked to the park.
