The rest of the world had better hope that the popularity of Soccer doesn't continue to grow in the US. In a country of 300 million people, we have a huge talent pool that most small countries don't. As for me, I like the USA winning on the international sports stage, but I hate the sport catching on here. When I go to a bar, I would rather watch pro-bowing than soccer.

What a shame, soccer is a beautiful sport. MLS is boring though, I can see why Americans don't care for it. Especially when you have football, basketball, baseball, and hockey.
I tried throughout the years, but it just doesn't work for me.

Yeah, it's not for everybody haha. At least you tried it before criticizing. Most of my friends hate baseball and don't take the time the follow the sport. How can you hate something you don't know anything about?

I followed it a lot when the NY Cosmos played. They brought over a lot of big stars: Pele, Beckenbauer, Alberto, and Chinaglia.

Yeah, I just can't get into it. I tried playing it and watching it and could just never get into it. I hate watching soccer

México lindo y querido jeje. My country right now is plain crazy... All the streets are with full of people celebrating. Edited by iortiz

I had a great time with friends at a cook out yesterday for the US game. All nice until the last 30 seconds!

I will admit. I only watch the games the US are playing in. But I am not a soccer fan. I have plenty of friends who are. So it's cool to learn about a sport I know little about.

I did see Mexico score the 3 goals in 10 minutes today, that was pretty sweet!

Congratulations iortiz!! My family is celebrating like crazy too in Colombia. Can't wait until I'm in Europe to experience the atmosphere, should be fun!

Thanks Mike, my beautiful girlfriend who is Colombian is very happy as well. Hopefully both countries face each other in the final match!

You should have seen Iran vs Nigeria. Most boring world cup game ever. It ended 0-0 with almost no real scoring chances for either side.

It's like watching women's basketball. At least other than Uconn.

yeah, it was really frustrating... again we were eliminated for 6th time in a row in this phase in the last 6 world cups.... we just can't go further for one thing or another, unbelievable...

I'm kind of glad the US lost just so everyone will stop caring about soccer. People in the US only care about it once every 4 years

It certainly was funny watching so many pink hats seem so interested in soccer all of a sudden.

I get that the people who played soccer are into it. I have found commonality among those who have never played soccer but were into it. Mainly they were people that had never played an organized sport such as baseball, football or basketball at any level. This is not a scientific survey. It is just my own experience.

The reason American soccer sucks is because American soccer fans don't support American soccer.

They watch premier league games and other international leagues, and thus no one watches the MLS, which is a laughing stock in most of the US. It is easier for me to watch a Liverpool game than a Revolution game. Sponsorships are low, ratings are low, player contracts are low. Young athletes don't watch it, they don't hear about it, and they focus on the sports with bigger potential paychecks.

... and I wish everyone would stop caring about basketball. It's the reason why soccer, hockey, and baseball aren't more popular in this country. People get so hooked on the instant gratification of basketball's high amount of scoring that they lose the ability to be entertained by sports that involve playmaking. Americans lose interest without constant scoring nowadays.
The Red Sox offense is like a Soccer team.
