Making this because I am working most of the day tomorrow and don't want to risk not being able to start it later.

Dempster:

Red+Sox+Dempster+Base_Acco(1).jpg

Seen here getting ready to beat the crap out of the last guy to make a Dumpster-related pun.

Vs. Cosart, which sounds like a made up name. In continuing with "no opposing starter photo" mojo, just imagine a scared teenager with overlarge baseball clothing on, standing on the mound while David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury hit line drives over his head and Jonny Gomes cuckolds his father.

f*** the Astros. Again. That is all.

Win.

I suspect we have another high scoring affair with the Sox coming out on top. Will Dempster make an effort to control the Astros running game? Surely guys are going to get on base. Seems like this is one team where the Sox would want to make more of an effort to slow them down on the bases.

I give Dempster credit - i suspect he is hurt some and the team is not discussing it. Hopefully the splitter is on today. Frankly, hope his command is on - that is his whole thing.

Good example there of how one lousy ball/strike call can really change an inning. Houston starter in trouble in the first (always a good time to jump on the starter). Carp is up in the count and takes a called strike on a pitch way outside that would have been ball 4. Would have loaded the bases for Gomes. Instead Carp ends up grounding back to the mound to end the inning on the next pitch.

Jeez Drew, can you putz around outside the batters box a little more between pitches? We have all night anyway.

Yeah, very true. That particular pitch was indeed a ball. Although sadly, in the realm of bad calls it was nothing you would call egregious.

I've come to the conclusion that we'll never, ever see automated ball and strike calls, and maybe just as well. It would be too profound of a change. I think we'll definitely see expansion of replay. On balls and strikes we may see MLB do more monitoring of umps that fall too far outside the norm.

Back spasm generally caused by another back injury causing the muscle to spasm. Usually, muscle relaxers like flexiril for the spasm, an anti-inflamitory for whatever else might be going on and rest...no lifting...no bending.

But if I were you and had a back spasm I would see somebody. Again the muscle spasms in response to something like a disc being inflamed or something like that. You want to make sure you know what has caused the spasm.

3rd HR of the year!!! You have got to be s***ing me. I do think this will not be a low scoring game. I would bet we need at least 6 tonight and maybe more.

Dempster shouldnt even sniff the starting rotation on a championship caliber team. He sucks. I hope Buchholz comes back. Buchholz-Lester-Peavy-Doubront-Lackey rotation please...

thank you jung. I just took some ibuprofen so hopefully that will help. You in the medical field? You seem very knowledgeable about this.

This umpire is blind.

Has no idea where the outer third of the plate is. Calling pitches 6" off strikes.

Years and years of dealing with an oft broken body....mine! But do see somebody so you can find out what back component has been injured causing the muscle to spasm like that. For example, if a disc injury, the muscle spasms, literally trying to pull the vertebrae off the damaged disc, providing some relief for it. Your doctor will be able to tell you what is going on and help you prevent further injury. Rest and meds should get the muscle to stop spasming and whatever back component has been injured should calm back down again. But you really want to know what back component has gone bonkers on you so you can prevent further injury and make sure you have controlled this one.

Dempster actually has looked solid today ... clearly the odd man out rotationwise for the playoffs right now - but so far, 4 Ks - one bad pitch really.

Dempster sucks. They keep starting this bum, they might not make the playoffs. They couldn't get a nickel for him right now.

The counter argument to the "give Demps the benefit of the doubt, he might be injured" possibility is that unlike where they were with Lackey in 2011, the Sox have options. If he were hurt, you would think the Sox would just put him on the DL and really try to get him right.
