This isn't just about pitching, but I love that the Sox are tearing it up this year without doing anything really unsustainable. Who's having a career year? Well, Buchholz -- although he's having more like 45% of a career year, and he's got a history of being good when he can pitch. And Carp... off the bench, so it's not like he's the daily difference maker. And Uehara, though honestly he's been really really really good whenever he can get on the mound during his whole career. And I guess no one really expected Lackey to be this good, though it's not out of line with his best years in LA.

Victorino's the only regular position player I can think of who's really doing far more than you'd expect.

The Sox have a got a very good team heading in to the next couple of years. As opposed to recent years when we needed positive excellence from the FO, it seems to me that for a couple of years we'll just need the FO not to do anything bone-headed. It's a nice place to be.

The Sox SP have not had to be perfect the last few weeks because of the huge offensive production. For the most part the starters have still continue to pitch into the 6th, 7th and 8th innings. They are the reason the Sox sit a top the AL East. They will be the reason the Sox go deep into October.

You have to hope they move Dempster to the bullpen. The one guy who can blow you out early and needs 5 relievers.

Dempster pitched out of the pen for the Cubs so he has done it before and it makes the most sense for the Sox to make him part of the playoff bullpen.

You and Beaneater seem to have it right from where I sit. The fact is this team has been terrific at picking each other up, and if a guy is having a rough day at the plate he finds a way to help the team in the field or on the bases. This club of ours is not a one trick pony; they can beat you in so many different ways. I kept wondering when the prince would turn into the pumpkin but not only hasn't it happen but the team, dare me say it, seems to be getting better by the week. The way we manhandled the Yanks these past two series had to be an eye opener for any doubts some of us may have had.

Hopefully, moving Dempster to the pen for the playoffs will help the bridge between the SPs and Uehara. The 7th and 8th innings continue to be a concern and Uehara can't continue to pitch multiple innings or his effectiveness will start to decrease. As far as the rotation for the post season I'm hearing that it will be Lester - Lackey (Much better numbers at home) - Buchholtz in the first three games.
