Well on the bright side that means I don't have to make a gamethread tomorrow. Sorry about tonight y'all.

We should try some sort of new mojo. Maybe reverse Gamethread mojo, where the GT is posted from the point of view of the other team, or maybe limerick Gamethread, because I haven't limericked in a while and I could use the support this time around so I'm not posting them by myself. Or maybe "everyone posts as a different US President Gamethread" because that sounds fun!

I am still really hoping Lackey turns it around this season, but right now quite frankly he sucks ass. He starts well the first three innings but that's about it. The ballpen played good that was about the only good thing today. Our offense yet against was almost non existent. We are slipping at an incredible pace. I don't know what this team is going to do. Even if we have a 5 or 6 run lead I still don't feel confident. Everyone is winning in this division right now even Toronto. We need to step it up and fast.

Lackey was far from terrible tonight in spite of my complaints. He probably should have ended up in a 3-3 tie game and leaving at some point with the tie. But I just don't have any confidence that they would have pulled that out either....not in the depths they are in right now.

I had posted all off season that I felt pitching was becoming even more dominant....more like it was in the old days of the 1970's and earlier. So far that has been the case even just comparing year over year, month by month stats. Pitchers are seriously shutting teams down. So it is much easier to get out-pitched this year. But even given that, our offense is non-existant. Sure the game seems to be going back to the pitching dominance of old but we have had no offense at all of late.

No, I would forbid anyone from adopting the persona of any president past Ford to avoid stupid and obnoxious political arguments. You'd get the arguably even more horn-doggish Kennedy, but honestly I need a day of ital-as-JFK like I need a hole in the head.

Agreed. He's just very hot and cold. He can have 3 or 4 excellent innings followed by 2 ugly innings. But right now with this offense not even clay can win us games.

Lackey had a sub 3 era coming into tonight's game. Where is the ass sucking? He had an inning with an excuse me swing double and a routine ball that clanks off the catwalk. Now if you want to address an issue, talk about our offense.

I also refuse to listen to someone's baseball point of view that calls the bullpen a ballpen.

Remember where Lackey is in this rotation. Unfortunately for him he got Moore tonight and our anemic offense.

Please Mr Farrell, shake up this lineup. Gotta' do something cause this is not working.

I know I have said it before but I want either Nava or Carp in the lineup everyday. Prefer Nava but suddenly Carp seems to have found his way to Farrell's dog house or something. Farrell looks like he is trying to get Gomes AB's and I am not real sure why that makes sense while we end up with Carp growing barnacles on the bench. I have even suggested that at least once and awhile during this stretch I would sit both Ells and Gomes, move Vic to CF and play both Nava and Carp in the same game. May sound strange but last we saw of those two guys they were hitting. They are patient hitters and they are not at least as far as I know fouled up......yet.

I'm not looking to argue. I'm typing from my iPhone and it constantly corrects me. I rarely ever make a post from my computer. I said our offense has been terrible and I also said Lackey had a good 3 innings. But he didnt have a good 4th. The man is hot and cold...... And right now with the te struggling he isn't playing good enough for us to win. Then against aside from Lester who had a shut out not many pitchers are good enough to win. Lackey wasnt terrible tonight but he wasnt good either outside of the 1st 3 innings.

And I am not claiming to know what the lineup should be but I just don't think we can hang with this lineup as is cause I think we have guys on the bench that can help this offense that are not getting a chance to play. The most sensible places to go look for some offense are the outfield positions. Dropping Nava or Carp into 1st base once and awhile might not be a bad idea either but I am reluctant to sit Naps too often. There is nobody else that even has the potential to be that second bat with Ortiz in the middle of the lineup. Plus Gomes is not doing anything and Ells is doing very little.

We could move Vic to lead off and drop Nava in behind him followed by Pedey, Ortiz, etc.

When Ells is in the lineup I would drop him probably all the way to 9th against LH pitchers....maybe 7th against RH pitchers depending on who else is playing.

LOOK OUT BELOOOOOOOOOW. LOL!

I suggest you stop the trolling or you won't last long here. We don't take very well to trolls on this forum, with the exception of Jacko, but that's because we collectively laugh at him.

So do i start the GT tomorrow? I had a pretty good run last time, and i already have a US President avatar.

At the beginning of the year, I would call you crazy but there has to be a shake up eventually on this team. Its amazing how things can change even in a matter of two weeks. There is still a part of me that thinks we should be able to play ball with the lineup we have. There is entirely to much talent on this team to be playing like this. Its really mind boggling, but the more games we play the more I think its more then just a slump. Changes will happen eventually, it will be interesting to see what management does with this team.

It's 4th place team that has been playing above its head. The best we can hope for is to stay competitive and make a run at the second wild card. There are going to be a lot of ugly games like this along the way. I may have to adopt Fred's dogs.;)

I think I'd do well as Kennedy, especially with the backwards "ask not what this baseball team can do for you..." talk.

Then again I don't mind getting head in the backseat of my car either. :)

They are hitting well below the Mendoza line with RISP. That is unsustainable. It will normalize. Let's not throw ourselves off a building yet.

Dark. Very dark. I like.

Okay then, US President mojo tomorrow!

UN is obviously Nixon

Ital is Kennedy

I'm going to be Eisenhower

Everyone pick a president. Remember, no one from Carter through Obama.

Come to think of it, so would Eisenhower I bet. Also Grant, who was the other side of the coin-flip on my decision. I figured a leader who made most of his decisions while plastered would be the perfect fit for my history as a moderator, but I decided to give the edge to Eisenhower because his name is cooler.

I would have called myself crazy then also Tyler with the exception of having wanted Vic at the top with Ells right behind him as I think that would have been a better way to use those two assets.

I just want them to find a way, while things are this crappy to get Nava more at bats and get Carp SOME at bats. I don't know if he is in the dog house or not but he does not seem to be getting any AB's and our offense is at present kinda' terrible. I think Nava and/or Carp might more readily drop into the offensive approach that we had earlier in the season as well and one or both of them might help coax the lineup back to a more effective approach. I think we did see a little bit of it tonight with a few guys trying to push us in the right direction. More patience from some of them for one thing.

Agreed. Like I said, this team has way to much talent. At some point this funk has to break. But unfortunately with how good this division is, even a slump of 5 or 6 games is enough to kill ourselves.
