Well yeah but they want to win some of these games too, right?

The bullpen is wiped out. Three of their best arms are on the DL, and one more was already pushed to the rotation. Even if they do score 7 more runs, it means Tazawa, Uehara and Bailey will probably all need to pitch in the late innings to survive.

The odds are heavily against them, and they should take advantage of giving rest to the pen.

Alright, let's get Carp in the bullpen. Surely better than Aceves right now

You know, I was wondering who this year's Darnell McD is. Which position player gets pitch if we need one?

Webster>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Aceves

Webster is better but let's not rush him when we have Lackey about to return

lackey is going to surprise a lot of people this year.

Which is why they need to score at least a couple dozen runs.

Let the drinking begin!

Hey guys what's up........good thing I just went out and bought some Johnnie Walker Black. Going to need it especially if Aceves stays in the rotation

Its always the bench player that they wouldn't care about getting hurt. The bench is pretty solid this year though... the choices are probably Nava, Ciricao or Carp.

Not suggesting that I know more than Farrell as that would be a truly ridiculous suggestion but this is in part why I would like somebody besides Mortenson able to go more than one inning. It is the getting up every day that whips out a relief pitcher....even if he does not come into game...warming every day is even taxing.

Honestly, Nava's too valuable right now (strange as it is to type that). The guy with the 1+ OPS shouldn't be risking arm blow out.

Hey, if it's a total blowout and we just need someone to risk career-ending shoulder injury, maybe we should go with Aceves.

It is not quite so much the quality of hitting following the quality of pitching although there is a relationship. It is just much more difficult to play from behind...particularly to feel loose and confident at the plate hitting when you are behind and the reverse is true when you are ahead. Playing from behind can have an impact on how your offense is configured as well as there are just things you will not do playing from behind.

Makes sense.

...you realize that these are the same thing? You just made his point for him.

Youk unless I read his post wrong I think he was referring to a more direct relationship between pitching and hitting. IMO it is not a direct relationship. You don't hit poorly because you are pitching poorly. Your hitting is effected because you are behind in the game. You can pitch poorly and not be behind in the game.

Excuse me Mr Farrell.... PULL THE PITCHER!!!!!!!!!

Oh come on Aceves has them exactly where he wants them, pick them up. Give them hope and then smash their dreams with 2 grand slams. Watch and see. It's his game plan :)
