The Tigers aquired Cabrera the same year A-Rod opted out of his contract. Imagine if the Yankees traded for Cabrera instead of extending A-Rod. no one was offering anything close to what A-Rod got.

The funniest thing about the A-Rod contract extension was that the Yankees actually tacked 2 more years on top of what he was asking for, this of course after originally saying they were done if he opted out. It was a classic moment in the history of bad sports contracts.

You just made my point. The $pankees spent even more, and bought their way into the playoffs the last three years. If hating the $pankees makes me a moron then crown me and make me the king of the morons. The way the $panks didn't show up against the Tigers, and all of the problems the $pankees roster now has it is going to make the winter a little more enjoyable.
