Yu isnt very good' date=' IMO. He dominated us once, which nearly all new pitchers do. But his fastball is flat, he tries to get too cute and his command is spotty. He reminds me of a 2007 DiceK.[/quote']

I would very much attest to the feeling among the Rangers fan base here in Texas being similar to DiceK's first season. A lot of my Ranger fan friends were saying things in spring training like "ooh he throws 7 different kinds of fastballs" when the media was blogging his BP sessions. I tried to tell them how similar it was to Dice K's first spring training and they, along with the media here, we're saying the same things about Dice K. "But he's different than previous Japanese pitchers because he throws his fastball with more conviction, etc."

Time will tell, but I'm glad the Red Sox stayed out of the sweepstakes and are almost finished with the Dice K era.

I have a feeling that Yu is going to turn into Dice-K. He doesn't have command of the ball. Once players start to just wait till he walks them, it's going to start to go down hill.

And amazingly enough, Texas's total cost for Darvish is even more than ours for Dice-K. He's going to cost them at least 112 million for 6 years including the posting fee. Dice-K cost us 103 million.

Most Japanese pitchers don't make it here.

Some of them go almost a season and a half before the entire league figures them out.

Don't look now but Cook has got a pretty nice outing going on here.

Good news for my mojo:thumbsup:

Well, it's about time they make a stupid move.

I'm not sure if he will be as disappointing as Dice K was. If he has elbow trouble or some other long term ailment, he will fall close. In Dice K's first season, he was able to do just enough to help us win the world series. I'm sure that's what the Rangers were thinking when they signed him - "we will come out on top of he helps us win a WS".

But then they let CJ Wilson walk, who was spectacular for them in the regular season. As much as Rangers fans bad mouth Wilson today, he was the reason they made the post season last year in the first place. His struggles in the playoffs overshadowed his consistency in the regular season. To this point so far this season, there is no doubt who has been the better pitcher.

Yeah but everyone comes to slow motion Goshen at least once.

Looks like Cook has been kinda' sneaky tonight the little I have seen so far. Looks like he has proved he can keep the ball down and has slipped a zinger up in the zone in on the Rangers every once and awhile.

He really has looked pretty good tonight. He seems to have some real talent. I can't explain the reason for his bad starts...nerves?

Yu has something Aton of Japanese pitchers don't have! Height! This is what is different from Dice-k! Yu will be the most successful Japanese pitchers ever

No way , teams are allready hitting him hard . It's not going to get any better.

Sadly, this is the type of outcry I've heard all year here in Dallas. While there are some knowledgeable Rangers fans, the vast majority would be considered "pink hats" by many on this board. With the Cowboys struggles in recent years, many sports fans in the area have jumped aboard. In the past, the Rangers were just a distraction until training camp begins.

The Red Sox Roller-coaster Season continues.

Fantastic effort tonight by the Sox, props to Cook for keeping the ball down so far, and hooray for performing at your best in your HOMETOWN!!

Boy Yu started the year with so much promise. Does anybody know if this is how he has been pitching lately? Ryan must be pullin' his chest hair out (not much up top anymore).
