What this team needs is hope. Even the Charlotte Bobcats could beat the Twins meaning that they could beat the Sox too.

I love the sox' date=' always will. But, wake up. Playoff teams win the easy ones. This team sucks.[/quote']

4 games out of a spot.

Wow' date=' Aceves' ERA when he comes in during the 8th is over 10. Bobby, you might want to look at your own stats[/quote']

ERA for such limited sample size is stupid. Like the stupid f***s Boston media is when discussing Bard last September.

You cannot fault Bobby V? Really? He allowed the worst possible matchup to take place in the 9th inning with the winning run on base.

Everyone underestimates Mauer because he's on a bad team.

This team makes me wish I was a bobcats fan. At least they don't have any expectations from their team. Every single win is a blessing for them.

They did go to long with Ace there...

Obviously hindsight is 20:20 but instead of just giving up which that meatball pitch was.....just walk him, try to hit a corner and if not...he gets the base and either the manager goes with another pitcher to try to get the last out or leaves you in and you start fresh with another batter.

I would have hoped that V would have decided that he had gone long enough with Ace and gone to the pen for somebody at that point if Mauer had walked.

I have actually seen Ace do that a few times this year and you cannot give in....you just can't. Honestly...yea V maybe should not have even gone that far with Ace but Ace did give in there...I have seen him do it before this year in that exact situation and you just can't do it especially with an open base. Might have made sense for McClure to have come out and discussed it with Ace.

And Thunder' date=' they will be 5 out in the L column for a playoff spot[/quote']

L column doesn't matter it's both W's and L's that decide it.

I've been around sports all my life. I've been on good teams and I have been on bad. Playoff teams don't do what the Red Sox are doing right now. They may only be four games out but they don't have the fight to get those four games.

Even though tomorrow game is a noon game and I'm up anyway I think it's best to lay it off. Maybe our guys would have some success in London.

I know. I've played on teams and still do who lack fight. It takes one bit of tweaking to bring fight.

I am guessing you're pretty young since that is a very naive way to look at it. The L column effectively is what you can control. If you are behind a team by 5 in the L column, that means you need that team to lose 5 times no matter what you do to catch them.

I actually don't wonder if in that situation Ace does not want to come out of the game and figures if he walks Mauer he is coming out. But that is the way it goes....Like I said above...Ace can't give in there. He had to try to hit a corner and if that did not work fine. You don't give Mauer that opportunity to beat you like that.

I have not liked this thing lately of Ace pushing people off the mound that are trying to talk to him. He is not that great that he can pull that s*** and he just proved it tonight.

Having more in the L column also means that you've played more or even less games than that team, so you can catch up with wins.

Anyway, who wants to ditch the Sox and jump on either the Pirates or the A's bandwagons? :sarcasm:

When the Red Sox score 4 runs or less they lose more than 85% of the time. It's the PITCHING!

We've all been saying this for three or so years. The FO doesn't do anything to fix it.
