Rain delays are by far the thing I hate the most about baseball. It's already a long game that is played daily, I wake up at 2 am to watch it, and then the game takes an hour longer because so few parks have a retractable roof.

This is why they should be pouring more funds into the creation of force fields. You could preserve the historical ambiance of Fenway and keep out the rain, all with a force field dome easily generated by even the smallest starship's navigational deflector.

 

Not to mention how handy they could be for flood protection, wildfire fighting, protection against volcanic eruption, and even, if you drill deep enough to install portable units, earthquake prevention.

Now why would you not sacrifice with Shop? What the hell was shop going to do with JV? I know it is early in the game so not the usual spot for a sacrifice but shop does not have much of a shot with Verlander
