I should have quoted what I was responding to in the last post...it would have at least made more sense. Sorry about that.

Do you know we have a #1 drafted player playing for us right now?

Let me guess: It's Crawford.

Okay' date=' I am leaving for vacation tomorrow for a week, and will not have computer access. Game thread will be made at 8 AM or so, and I will need someone to back me up if they win again.[/quote']

If we win tomorrow to keep our mojo alive I am willing to take your password in a PM :D

Hopefully the Red Sox still acknowledge they should be sellers at the deadline.
I don't know if they are lying to themselves or to the fans, because the fans are not buying it. Most of us think they are cooked. If the lie is for the fans, it is pointless. If they believe their own story, it is pretty scary that they would be so stupid. They need to sell and get what they can for this low rent garage sale. Send Aviles away and Salty and Albers and Atchison and Nava and Sweeney too. Take whatever you get for them. They should be able to get something decent in return for Beckett. Play Ciriaco and Iglesias and Lavarnway. Give them 2 months to see if they are real major leaguers or just over-hyped prospects and let's move on. We know this is not the year. The FO needs to give up the facade.

Lester has been so bad lately that in a game where his ERA actually ticked up to 5.49 from 5.46 we think he made an improvement. That is very telling.

These game threads have no activity. All of the optimists have disappeared, all of the realists know it's time to sell and all the pessimists are laughing and saying they told us so.

The pitching is unreal, this team needs a pair of aces. Two, not one, two. Our supposed #2 pitchers are all mediocre this year, and the only one I'm even moderately optimistic about is Bucholz going forward. Lester needs to re-prove himself, Beckett, who knows what the hell he's going to be next year if he's even in Boston. Trends suggest he'll be an ace, but that's the sort of trend I don't really trust in. offensively even, Crawford seems like he's just shot. He's been an atrocious hitter since coming here, and it's extremely frustrating to watch. I never counted on him to return to form, but I didn't expect this again. Hopefully he turns it on at some point and finishes with respectable numbers, but right now it's frustrating to watch.

Either way, this team pissed away month after month, showed signs of coming on, then regressed back to mediocrity.

I'm not saying "f*** this team" or "it's over" even, but it's just not likely at all, and it's time to sell some pieces.

His ERA went up? Ugh.

He seemed so good in this game... Compared to his season. If it werent for one lead off walk...

His WHIP went down though. :)

Here's the crazy splits on Jon:

Home 7.39 ERA 1.75 WHIP

Road 3.34 ERA 1.10 WHIP

Home cookin' never tasted so bad...

He pitch modestly last night. The HR to Nix was just pure bull s***, it's a 320 foot pop up in every other park.

And Beckett was drafted #2, and Miller was drafted #6. Not to mention that Lester, Salty, Cook, Shoppach, Pedroia, Buchholz, Ellsbury, Crawford, Sweeney, and Lackey in the first 2 rounds.

I would also argue that sucking worse would net us better draft position AND allow us to spend more money in signing our picks. I'd rather have that in a lost season than to suck half-way, finish in the middle and have a mediocre draft position. If you're going to suck, might as well dedicate yourself to it.
