I'm not quick to judge over the face a player makes when coming to play. WMB is the only pleasant surprise that will be remembered from this season. I don't really buy into the whole "Bad role models" thing and bear and chicken wings being the reason to the team's failure.

seems like ages ago when our lineup could work the count and run up pitchers pitch count.

During spring training, every time the Boob and Bobby V said they liked our pitching I would shake my head in disbelief all the while hoping that they were saying that to get the press off the scent of what they were doing behind the scenes to bring in some good pitching. They could not have been more wrong. On that basis alone, they should pay with their jobs, no excuses about unforeseeability, bad luck etc. It was foreseeable that the pitching would suck. That's why the writers asked about the pitching every single day. It was obvious. Maybe Bobby and the Boob can get a radio show with that catchy name.

This s*** that they are doing right now is in part how you develop bad habits like making poor plate appearances...beer and chicken is background noise when you compare it to just carting your bat to the plate, hacking away thoughtlessly and carting yourself back to the dugout. It is not a bad role models thing....it is an entire team without focus, without intensity, without cohesiveness. This is all baseball stuff...not role model stuff. Completely different kettle of fish which is why many of us said last year when the beer and chicken stuff was going on that it was a bunch of meaningless noise. These are not the same things at all although their plate appearances at the point when they broke last year looked much like they are starting to look now this year.

 

Part if it is that they are just not that good to begin with and pitchers have now got really good books on these guys. They are just not going to make many mistake pitches to them for the remainder of the year and whatever is left of their confidence will be gone by season end.

I really hope that there are a lot of empty seats at Fenway for the last 2 months of the season. That's the only way the fools in the FO can be shamed into changing the direction of this team. Let them enjoy crowds of 10,000 pink hats singing Sweet Caroline as the team is getting its clock cleaned.
