Nothing unexpected for a series here in Texas.

Atleast these Johnny come lately Rangers fans have had a lot of fun watching this team the last few seasons. With some crucial pieces heading to free agency, this year may be the shot for the Rangers to win a title.

The best part about the Rangers now is Joe Nathan. If we face them in the playoffs' date=' we get to face him, and we always seem to get to him[/quote']He has always s*** himself against the Yankees. Always,

Sox have scored 3 or fewer runs in 16 of their last 22 games.

The offense has been absolutely pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

But the real problem is our pitching is completely incapable of winning games where we score less than 5 runs. An ace wins a game with a 2-0 lead. We have no ace.

Well that's exactly what Buchholz did yesterday, did he not?

Dude how does that even happen?!?!? It's unreal!!!

Yep' date=' he did. Beckett and Lester have not done it all year long.[/quote']

Well, Beckett threw like a #2 against the Rangers tonight, no? 7 IP, 4 ER. Should have been 3 ER if Ross can make a catch, but regardless, 7 IP, 4 ER isn't a bad outing for your #2.

I have to say, things can only get so bad. Look for the little things that point toward a brighter future like Bucholtz' performance last night, Ciriaco, Possibly picking up an ace before next year. It's gonna take time.

If the Red Sox stand pat at the deadline, you better get Lavarnway, Alex Wilson, and Iglesias up to Boston on August 1st.

You cannot have a s***** offseason like last offseason, then have a s***** regular season like this regular season, and then have an even shittier trade deadline and not even bring up the kids. That's just giving the Sox fans a big F You from the FO.

I mean honestly. The Sox hit .210 this series. And Middlebrooks went 6/12 on the season. That means the non-rookies likely hit under .200. That's pathetic.

Again. Bring up the freaking kids. I'm tired of Aviles at SS. Give us SOMETHING to get excited about.

It will take time cause there is so much that needs to change and pitching being one of them is difficult to pull together since it is valued so highly.

But you can see it just watching the games. It does not matter whether the Sox are playing one of the lower ranking teams or one of the better teams unless they are facing the real dregs, the opponent has an approach to the game that you can recognize. You can see what it is the opponent is trying to accomplish to beat you. The Sox are so dysfunctional and so poorly constructed as a team that they just end up looking like a slow motion train wreck in comparison.

They don't battle at the plate at all. We have way, way, way too many 1st pitch swingers with Salty, Gonzo, Ciriaco, Aviles, Crawford, etc, so rather than pushing the opposing SP pitch count up during the early innings and getting to a fatigued pitcher by the 5th inning, they're watching the pitch counts creep into the 90's in the 7th, when the opposing teams are comfortable going to the bullpen because they're not going to burn out the bullpen if they're only asking for 5 or 7 outs.

It probably is pretty close to time, but the callers on EEI had a good point. If the sox start to pack it in and bring up the kids, then the fans wont come and the "streak" and their revenue will be cut. They are master businessmen, maybe not on the personell side of the game, but definitely the marketing aspect. They wont give up until it is very late, so they dont lose the gates

I'd be devastated if all the fans who do the wave in the 7th after Albers gives up a lead-giving HR to the opponents didn't go to the game, and the fans who actually go to the game and live and die with the Sox could get tickets for a reasonable price. That'd be awful.

Beckett left the clubhouse before reporters were allowed in. Chased him out to the bus. Still wouldn't talk. #RedSox

Fenway is full of about 25% real fans, 25% other team's fans and 50% of people who are going just to go. But those people who go as if it is some sort of spectacle will go as long as they are relevant, and right now they are. If they give up, that 50% that fuels the revenue stream at the gate will cut down to a smaller number and the businessmen will be pissed.

Here is a spoiler for next year.........

They aren't spending any money in the offseason. They will do little in terms of trades. Their offseason spending is over until the Crawford and Lackey contracts expire (luxury tax, you know, because they have no money and cry poor).........and long as Beckett and Salty remain in Boston, they are still finishing no better than third.

The streak has been a joke for a while now.

The fans who go to the games, aren't fans. No fan would sing sweet caroline while they are getting their asses kicked.

I haven't been to a game in 2 years now.....after going to the park 3-5 times a year, every year from 1993-2010. I refuse to spend that kind of money at that dump to watch that kind of product play. When the ticket prices decrease to what a middle of the pack/last place team's fans pay....then Ill go back.

Or when the product on the field justifies the prices they are charging.

That's not fair. I go to a dozen games a year, don't sing Sweet Caroline, don't do the wave, and I think I'd consider myself a fan.

Im not saying all 38,000.

I was talking more about the people who go just to go.

The fact is that the offense gave him a lead-- a small lead a 2 run lead, but he couldn't hold it. That's his fault. Look at the stats. When the Sox score less than 5 run, the winning percentage is about .150. Every other team has winning percentages from .340-.370. That's a huge difference. It basically accounts for the entire gap in the standings between us and the Yankees. Offenses tend to be inconsistent, but the fact is that we have been #1 or 2 in runs all season. The pitching has not done its job in low scoring games. The stats couldn't be more stark in that regard.
