I blame the front office. If Crawford didn't overuse his wrist counting out his money and f*** up his elbow carrying the money all the way to the bank he'd be playing this year and leading the league in the triple crown categories for the 2nd straight year.

Goddamn Ben Cherrington f***ing moron

Glad to hear a hitter coming off TJ has a shorter time-table... I kind of suspected that but wasn't sure. Either way, look at our OF'ers

CF - Ellsbury

RF - Ross

LF - You can choose from Nava, Posednick, Sweeney or Kalish.

The likelihood of seeing Crawford of the Rays the rest of the season is not happening, in fact, with nursing this injury, its possible he could be WORSE than last season. So why would you even want this guy on the squad when you've got 4 guys on the roster who are more than capable of filling in for the rest of 2012... I'd rather see him take the surgery now, be healed up by Jan/Feb, and be well ready to train and be ready for Spring Training in 2013.

Hey, I admire him wanting to come back, but its better for him and the team for him to just take time to get healthy and come back in 2013 to show us what he can do.

BTW - I just have to say again, I don't think anyone was complaining when we signed Crawford and A-gon.... Hindsight is 20/20... But at the time, it was a good move... These guys don't have a crystal ball...

A number of folks did not like the Crawford signing myself among them. I also did not like the Lackey signing at the time and would have done neither deal.

I had no complaints at the time about the AGons signing. My comments about the AGons signing are more a general comment about the Sox giving away max money and term for guys that have not proven themselves on the other side of injury and the fact that Agons falls right in the middle of both the Lackey signing and the CC signing both guys that got max money and both with known injuries. Agons also got big money and term while not having proven anything on the other side of his injury. I would be fine with the AGons signing even today if they did not follow that up with CC thus putting them in the position they are in today although I still think they should have been smarter about how they dealt with AGons because of the injury situation and if that meant losing the player....so be it. The Sox make virtually no effort to mitigate injury in their deals even to players coming directly off injury. They did to some extent with Lackey which will give us another year of Lackey for what that is worth. However I would not have signed Lackey under any circumstances. To the best of my knowledge the Sox did nothing with AGons like what they did with Lackey and are totally exposed to the risk that AGons will not recover his power numbers.

Signing guys with injury issues as yet unresolved is one thing. Giving them the keys to your future and allowing deals like that to seal your fate for years to come makes no sense. I should also point out that they gave Crawford more money than anybody was offering Crawford at the time making it a virtual certainty that he would sign with Boston. What about Carl Crawford forced the Sox to make that sort of deal?

I did not like the Lackey deal to begin with so I would not have made that deal injury or no. I did not like the Crawford deal and would not have made that one injury or no. However if I wanted guys like AGons I would have attempted to get them in a way that at least mitigated the risk and of course that likely means you are going to offer less money...that also means you might lose the player.....So What!!!!

Cafardo today wonders why Ellsbury isn't playing in Boston, if he can play in the minors. I wonder why Crawford has been pussying around in the minors, too, the last several weeks. Waiting to get injured again? Another example of the absurdities of the Red Sox organization. Keep playing these guys in the minors until they get hurt again.

I might add that some think Cafardo is V's mouthpiece. If so, the Red Sox are in a lot of trouble, because V may be out of the loop. That could well affect the team.

We saw this with Kalish last season. He was coming off a decent second half rookie season for us, but Epstein and Co. had that big salary they were paying the dreadful Drew so they sent Ryan down and he got seriously hurt. We are reaping that stupidity even now. Once again money trumped common sense and talent. So Sox Sport, why should you be surprised to see the Red Sox front office once again screw the pooch. Some of us have come to the conclusion that we now have the most inept leadership of any front office starting with Prune Face himself in the owner's chair.

Actually, the fans were split on the CC signing. We knew then that it would hurt us when trying to resign Ellsbury, and it was yet another LH bat in the OF. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge CC fan, I love watching him play, and I like having him on the Sox, but I knew he didn't fit when we signed him.

As for AGon, I can't think of anyone who was against trading for him. He was great last year, and I'm sure he'll come around.

John Lackey was a terrible signing right out of the gate. His peripherals were never that good to warrant that amount of money, especially moving to the AL East. But the SP market was utterly horrible and the team needed one, so we got the shiniest turd in the heap.

Crawford was a horrible fit, there is no good spot in the lineup to put him and he complains about hitting anywhere other than #2. His speed and athleticism can't be utilized at Fenway. He's a poor man's Ellsbury, and now we get to lose Jacoby because of signing Crawford.

In answer to that, I say the unexpected development of Ellsbury as a player doesn't make it any less of a mistake if we have to lose him because resources were allocated to lesser performers. There must always be accountability. If not, we will always get a litany of excuses.

I am sorry on the timetable, for a position player it is actually 6-8 months. The sox have until August, really to make the decision. If they are out of it come Aug 1, then you gotta send him to Yocum or Andrews

Sure wish the FO could keep Ellsbury, somehow. Maybe b/c of his injuries we can give him a Lincecum-esque deal securing him through 2016 or '17. Then bring up Bradley and have Crawford-Ellsbury-Bradley Jr. in our OF. Could be awesome!

Otherwise, Red Sox are just a little bit f***ed for right now w/CCs $$. Sometime in like 10 years when we have a whole new team with whole new prospects & probably new owners, management, FO, etc... this team will grab another 2 WS in 3 years. The team just seems so f***ed up right now. Youkilis was obviously healthy again but something about Boston was plaguing his mind and now he is hot in Chitown & they ripped us off big time.

Yeah, just have the surgery and get it over with. Nava's numbers are tumbling but his OBP is still 100 points higher than Carl's was last year.

Says he's coming back Monday. I'm guessing a small trade this weekend possibly just before he gets back. Possibly Nava going somewhere. Just a guess tho.

What would we get for him? Maybe a subscription to MLBTV? The guy has been on waivers several times over the last 2 years and no one took him for free. I don't see getting anything more than a questionable A ball prospect who can double as a peanut vendor.
