Even in a bad year' date=' he should occasionally charge one up. He doesn't hit the ball long at all.[/quote']

Hopefully he's saving up for the 2nd half of the season and whatever lies beyond that point...

A good winning streak and a lot of posters would be ghosts around here.

Exactly who is going to be a ghost around here? Some seem to leave when we are losing, but winning makes everyone here but Jacko happy.

Oh god' date=' isn't that a big park too?[/quote']

Yup. Matsusaka is going to need one.

Realistically, we should win at least two games there. The A's are not very good, at least offensively. They are last in the AL in runs scored but second in ERA. Our offense will need to wake up. Punto and Lillibridge cannot be playing out there.

I know, I am the same way. It's infuriating to watch this team not score runs with the talent.

But, like we said, you get Ellsbury and Crawford back and a lot of these struggles go away.

They don't pitch. I'm not sold on Cook and Doubs looks like his wheels are coming off. I am hopeful about Morales, but we need another pitcher, and I am not hopeful that Cherries will get one.

It's obvious to me. I don't really want to name names, but there are a few posters who only show up when things look down (posters like Reck, for example).

Well, lets hope that the offense wakes the f*** up. That is what makes this team go.

As I said earlier in this thread, I am not completely giving up on Gonzalez until he has one more atrocious year like this one. If that happens I will add his name to the list of mistakes Epstein made. Also, I have said many times that I think Crawford will contribute to the team much more than he did last year.

I laugh hysterically at people like you who put words in the mouths of other posters and believe its what they really said.

Fair enough. If I inaccurately grouped you in with the people who hate on Crawford and Gonzo, then I apologize for that.

Hey. 0.5 games back in the WC.

Yankees @ Rays for 3.

Orioles @ Seattle for 3, then @ LAA for 4.

Take care of business against the A's and put yourself in a good position going into the ASB.

This team could very well be in the lead for one of the WC's going into the ASB. That seemed crazy to think about just 3 weeks ago, when the Red Sox were 6.5 games out of the 2nd WC (See: Blow It Up Thread)

No problem SFF. Never had an issue with you. We rarely agree but we disagree agreeably.

I still don't trust us in the WC race. I think we can still catch the Yankees, especially if we get another quality SP or if Morales continues to dominate. Playing a team with a real ACE SP is going to be very tough for us to match up against. I would rather win the ALE.

Pitching definitely needs to step it up. I'm hardly sold on Cook as well. I think Morales slides into Doubronts slot as his innings start to pick up.

But, on the good side, Morales looks excellent (thus far), Buchholz had a 3.23 ERA over his past 7 starts and looks to be finding his groove. Beckett has looked very good lately (2.72 over his past 7 starts).

If Lester can pick it up and pitch consistent with his talent, then we'll be in much better shape.

However, in other news, the Phillies have been calling around and gauging interest in Hamels. You make a deal for Hamels, and you get Ellsbury, Crawford, and Bailey back, then we'd be talking about an absolute dominant team.

This is quite the dumb comment.

By your logic, shouldn't I be gone around these times when the Sox are losing? I'm here aren't I?

I'm here win or lose. This just proves it. This team cannot play as badly as it has been. Doesn't deter me from posting.

Mind you when I'm not around, I'm working and whatnot. This place doesn't take up all my time.

Funny thing is, early last year this place was buzzing with posters and now look at it. Only a handful of regular posters post here anymore.

Yup. Feel the same.

As for the WC race - you're right. It would be very, very tough to go up against a guy like Wilson, Verlander, Haren, Weaver, Price, etc.

Which is why this team needs to make a move for an ACE pitcher. Someone like Cole Hamels. Go out there and make it happen because if you do that, all of a sudden you feel very good about yourself in a WC this year, and you feel very comfortable about your rotation next season.

Injuries to starting pitching on the Yankees could certainly play a role

Exactly. Our pitching IS improving. There is no denying that. We just cannot afford to fall too far behind (where that is is anyone's guess: mine is about 9 games out now). CC is hurt, and he is out of shape. Who knows how long his leg will take to heal with that kind of body mass, or if he will come back at 100% or reinjure himself. Petitte is out at least six weeks. If we can manage to go into the ASB about 5 behind the Yankees we then have a good shot at catching them if our pitching holds up.

I can't disagree with the conclusion, but I have Hamels in the pipe dream category at this juncture.

Pitching has been a major improvement. In the past month or so, the sox have gone from last in the AL in runs allowed to about the middle of the pack. They do not have to be the top team in the league in pitching to be successful, but they will need to continue to improve as the season progresses.

Anyone but Bogaerts.

This team is in desperate, desperate need of an ace

I don't think they will give up alot for a 2 month rental, and as much as I like to get established stars for prospects, I would not go overboard for a rental.

I don't think so.

This team has 3 #2/3's. They have to have an ace. And the new PS format only exacerbates the issue.

There is a reason why they might consider moving Bogaerts to land an ace. If they are convinced that WMB is the real deal superstar material, Bogaerts path to Fenway is likely blocked. If he is blocked by WMB, his stock may not rise that high unless he flat out eats up AAA pitching like he is the next coming of Pujols. Teams will know that we have no room for him and they will know that our hand will be forced to move WMB or Bogaerts. We would not be dealing from strength. Depth and redundancy isn't necessarily strength on the trade market.

People like you always whine no matter what the other person does.

When Red Sox are losing and people are not showing up on a board that must mean they dont care enough to post. And when the Red Sox are doing good, winning games, winning champinships and people come post and are here alot well then they must be bandwagoners.

Is always black and white with the likes of you. Never mind people having lives outside of a board.

But fear not, I couldn't care less about what your opinion is about "the group" that only shows up when things "look down."

I'll be turning cartwheels if they land Hamels. I just don't see the Phillies throwing in the towel on 2012. They have a lot of money invested in that roster.
