Dice K tomorrow
I think we will be needing Lester to ace up for us to prevent a sweep. Dice K blows. I am sick of his ********. Hopefully, he starts earning some of his money tomorrow.

17-2 now when WMB has a RBI.

Is there any chance of the Red Sox acquiring a front line starting pitcher by the trade deadline?

0-1 without Youk.;)

Wish we knew the Sox were looking for front line Starter. Don't see how they can possible make a legitimate run without one more real deal arm in the rotation.

If the Sox lose it will be because of comprimised GT-starter mojo two days in a row.

What pasta did you eat? Something needs to be held accountable!

Considering his past performance and his contract, he could throw three straight no-hitters and still not come close to earning his money.

I would say 100% no. Id be surprised if they did anything to add.

I could actually see them trading Ross/Nava/Sweeney/Salty/Dice-K or anyone in their bullpen for a couple prospects to a contending team.

It won't matter. Upgrading our pitching staff is a multiyear task. The pitching has sucked for years. And we still have too many mediocre buffoons on the roster. Their contracts have to expire and then they have to be good at choosing replacements, something Cherington's predecessor was quite poor at doing. Getting one good pitcher is not going to significantly improve our team ERA.

I think it remains to be seen whether the Sox will be buyers or sellers at the trading deadline. If they are still treading water in 4th place, I think they will sell off parts of the team.

a700' date=' they're 2 games out of the last WC spot. They aren't gonna sell[/quote']That's where they are now. Whether they are sellers or buyers at the deadline will depend on where they are at that time.

I would posit that they are already sellers to a degree. What other contender has salary dumped two of its starting players from 2011?

There are only 12 more games until the ASB. The Yankees get the sox for 4 right before it. If the Yankees run roughshod through them and the sox go into the ASB 5 games back of the WC spot and 10+ back of the Yankees, then maybe they do sell. BUT, they should have Bailey, Beckett, Buchholz, Crawford, and Ellsbury back by then. My guess is the sox arent going to make any huge moves, but will definitely be looking to add in the early half of July. If the new additions lead to more slumping and the sox finish July down 5-7 in the WC chase, then they will sell

Or we will take 3/4 from those f***in yanks in July.

3/4 since the double header makes it very hard to sweep.

with the way our pitching staff is performing i would'nt be surprised if we lost 3 out of 4

i dont remember last time when they won a 1-0 game or a 3-2 game. the games we have won have generally been a blowout. Starting pitchers have not gone deep enough. and that is going to be key factor from here on.

Lester, Doubbie, have been shaky in their last starts, Cook was better, Dicek has been well Dicek and the only strong guy so far has been Morales. cant believe i am saying this...

Interesting question, but since we may have upgraded at both those positions I would argue that it isn't the type of selloff normally associated with a team who is throwing in the towel for the year.

Only the Twins and Royals have worse pitching than the BoSox. It's time to wake up. We are coming up on the All Star Break. Ellsbury and CC coming back and WMB playing everyday is not going to help the pitching. A couple of bullpen guys are not going to help our starters-- who just flat out suck as a staff. No excuses. It's not bad luck. It's not the umps. It's not bitch hits. Except for Buchholz's case of the bloody shits and a few missed starts by Princess and the Pea Beckett, they have not had any bad injuries. They got back the Japanese Treasure. They just stink. Period. Will they end up stinking? I don't know, but it will be hard for their pitching to crawl into the top half, and that is where they will need to be if they want to have a chance at the Post Season.

You are drinking the Kool Aid possibly? Don't kid yourself about Aviles being an upgrade over Scutaro. If he is an upgrade, it is not much of one at all. That move was a salary dump-- pure and simple.

Every staff depends on its 1-2-3 starters. This team has 2 that are regulars on the DL (Lapcase and Fries Buckett). Until that change, they won't get anywhere. And worse the #1 has regress into a middling back end starter.

Maybe, but the Scutaro deal was kind of weird from the get-go. It was a team option to begin with, right? There was a lot of speculation they wouldn't pick it up. They picked it up then traded him for Mortensen.
