How about WMB gets better with more consistent time, and Youk gets better without the stress of losing his spot to a rookie while he's on the DL.

Youkilis wasn't hitting. they can't afford to take up a roster space with him. Valentine isn't going to play him anymore. The pressure has been building to this moment' date=' let's not pretend that everything could have kept going like this indefinitely.[/quote']Then if there was a rush to get rid of him, give him to the Dodgers or some NL team. We have to play the White Sox next month.

Youk will rake in Chicago for several years. WMB will fall to Earth this year and in 2 years everyone here will be whining about the trade that sent Youk the Stud to Chicago and left us with crap.

In 2 days, articles will come out in the Globe and Herald blaming Youk for everything bad that has ever happened with this team.

I can completely see this happening.

Let's wait until these guys suck until we burn Ben at the stake' date=' eh?[/quote']They already suck. I can't see either guy being on our roster after CC comes back. Liilibit has a shot to play IF cause Punto is such a POS.

Lillibridge has more positional flexibility than Punto, so maybe he replaces him at some point?

Stewart has some potential. He was the big piece of the Edwin Jackson trade last summer.

Didn't we get some guy for Theo that threw 95? So, is that the criteria for determining that we got value-- the guy can throw 95?

Very few people seemed worried about Youkilis a few days ago. Do you really worry that he's going to be so good that he pushes CHW over the top?

Coco you edited out the part of your post that I was going to quote haha

I'm controlling myself.

I don't even know what this means. I said literally nothing about throwing 95

Stewart has a career 3.07 minor league ERA. Granted, his WHIP isn't that impressive, but the ERA seems promising.

Question for those of you who dislike this deal (everyone' date=' apparently) but wanted Youkilis gone: Who did you actually think they were going to get?[/quote']

This is an opportunity for people to critique the FO. Hence, they will do it. SBF will be calling him Cherinpuke or whatever within moments, and I'm anticipating a Ben the Boob reference soon.

Even though the team Cherington has constructed has overcome so many injuries and now has a depth in the OF that nobody would have expected, he will still be ridiculed because other people could do a better job from the safety of their keyboards.

Ben the Boob has no clue what he's doing.

This is dynamite

Felix, Cain, Darvish, Chapman, Hamilton, Kemp, AND Votto.

Good job trading him to a team we're competing against for a WC spot too Ben. Doesn't help that their farm system is absolute crap too, they only have 2 'B' prospects if that.

Hey guys just thought I'd give some insight on the players you received coming from a White Sox fan:

Stewart: He had first come in as a starter to replace Edwin Jackson, he was a bright spot on our starting rotation in his first season here, he actually almost threw a perfect game against the Twins at some point, but towards the end of the year he was going down hill, at the start of this season he was in the bullpen and mainly pitched in blowouts. He throws a very good slider and has good command on his fastballs, but when he decides to throw a change-up it's usually a home-run, he gets way too many home runs hit off of him and usually turns a blow out into a closer game than it should. He doesn't pitch-to-contact and he isn't very good in the bullpen, his combination of his fastball and slider work well, but his lack of repertoire really hurts him, I wouldn't expect much out of him unless he comes back to form to be in the back of the rotation.

Lillibridge: He is very good at diving for the ball in the outfield, but his lack of arm and lack of speed leaves him at a disadvantage in the outfield, he was a super-sub for us and would play 1st base for Konerko when he gets subbed out, but he's not a very good fielder at 1st base, but is enough to be a sub. He's not very good at pinch-hitting and usually isn't called upon when we needed one. I honestly don't think he could even make the MLB roster on the Red Sox because he's not a great utility player or a good pinch-hitter.

And I just thought I'd say Konerko plays 1st base most of the time and Dunn is the DH, they do switch roles every now and then to give Konerko a rest, but Konerko is mainly the fielder at 1st.

Welcome, and thanks for the insight. Cherington got fleeced.

What did you expect to get for an injury prone 3B who has been injured in every one of the last 3 to 4 years who is hitting .220 on the season and is a distraction to the rest of the team?

What did you think we'd get because let me tell you, it wasn't going to much. We got some salary relief, a young pitcher who isn't too far removed from being a top prospect and a decent utility man with solid numbers for his career against lefties. He takes youks spot on the roster and maybe it allows us to dump McDonald in favor of someone who isn't awful.

I like the move. We turned a s***** situation into one in which we were able to get some value.

Yeah, in 97 games last year he only had an .845 OPS. No promise there at all.

Jesus fellas, the Sox HAD to get Youkilis out of there. He ate up a roster spot, was not good, blocked Middlebrooks, and was somewhat of a malcontent. People have been saying consistently that the Sox wouldn't get anything for him. Well, it seems they didn't get much for him, but they are out from under him now and can move forward.

Addition by subtraction.

Stop being the voice of reason.
