Scutaro/Helton combined errors lost the game against Phillies tonight.. i really dont care about Scutaro why are you guys so gung ho about him..

he was mediocre and Aviles is doing perfectly fine.

He hit .300 here last year, went white hot in September when the Red Sox needed someone to step up, and he was the only major player whose name didn't come up in the chicken and beer story. So you trade him for spare parts, make Aviles your starter (who has a much lower OBP mind you) and add a nothing player like Punto to the mix? And he always seemed to perform even through big injuries.

Scutaro has a higher OBP than Aviles, sure. OTOH Aviles is hitting .350 with RISP and Scoots is hitting .155. That's why Aviles has 40 RBI and Scoots has 18.

You have to keep up here man...the argument for keeping Scutaro is now an option play...if he wouldn't have been better than Aviles' date=' he most certainly would have been a better utility guy than Punto. :)[/quote']

lol sorry for comparing apples to apples rather than apples to oranges.

so if the argument really is Punto or Scutaro.. hmm at that point really there is nothing to compare. Redsox didnt want to go over Luxury tax threshold and his salary dump seemed the most easy way out.

As a fan, I don't care much about that, especially after the ticket prices have been set for the year. Secondly, the figures that I have seen indicate that they are over the cap anyway. Third, I wouldn't mind if they used the Scutaro money to improve the team in another area. They have not done so. I never said that there wasn't a sound business motivation for the Sox. However, I don't really care about a few million being spread around the ownership group at the expense of the on field product. That's my fan's perspective. The team would have been better off with Scutaro than Punto. If I was a Sox owner or investor, I might feel different, but I am just a fan. All I know is that Punto sucks and Scutaro was useful.

i definitely cant argue that Punto sucks, but so far Scutaro has not been that go to guy he was last year. but anybody over Punto would be an upgrade. hell call up Ciriaco. i dont think his defense is that bad and is an upgrade in offense.

He is playing as well offensively as Aviles, and if we had them both we could have been spared DMac and his horrors as Aviles is capable of playing the OF.
