Whining about calls. Trying to ice opposing pitchers. Seriously??? He needs to STFU and cut out the theatrics. Just another clown trying to make it all about him.

I thought he'd be a problem this year. To me, he's been on good behavior. He's not the rabble rouser (sp?) that I was expecting.

I don't have an issue with him complaining about balls and strikes. Everyone else does it.

I don't have an issue with it on the field. In the presser it just comes off whiny.

Scioscia is a huge whiner and so was La Russa. Bobby V isn't such a big whiner on this.

I'll have to disagree here. Just because he's not the worst of all-time doesn't make it bad. Also comes off worse in my eyes since he has this team in the gutter. Also his antics where he tries to ice the opposing relief pitchers reak of bush league.

I have a very low opinion of most major league managers, so Bobby V doesn't phase me. I don't really care anything about what any of them has to say.

I guess I'm just more of a fan of Tito's way of doing things.

Pulling a cruising pitcher because of a pitch count and putting in struggling relievers in when you really need an out is more desirable than Bobby V being a tool? Disagree. Tito could make a game interesting real quick with poor managerial moves. Better players manager than Bobby V to be sure.

I think you're just trying to create a new scapegoat. This team is playing like horseshit.

I agree with this. I think we've seen two very different managers get pretty much the same result. Tell me it ain't the managers problem.

I agree with you. I have never liked BV and didn't want him as our manager. He has surprised me so far by not being what I thought he'd be.

Managers make their money by making good lineups, smart substitutions and sticking up for their players. They can also change the momentum by going ballistic. The sox have lost 6 of 7 and are in danger of being sellers at the deadline. He should try everything in his arsenal to get he team moving

I was actually elated the first time (maybe have been the only time) he got tossed out of a game for arguing. I was at a sports bar and some tool bag NYY fan was a total ass about it. This guy gives all NYY fans a bad name. A real tool.

Absolutely.

There is a box, and a ball that goes through it. If it is outside the box, it is a ball. If it is inside the box, it is strike.Balls and strikes are 100%, completely and utterly objective. One hundred percent. Balls and strikes are black and white. Absolute. Facts. There are no opinions when it comes to whether or not the ball is inside/outside of the box.

There are no "judgement calls" or anything like that. There is simply no reason why we can't have automated pitch calling. Fire the umpire's union if you have to, it simply makes no sense to have subject pitch zones.

Like the "Hawkeye" camera they use in tennis. That would be weird though. Who knows what technology will bring, changes all the time. Would be weird in baseball.

Cut MJ some slack, he doesn't get out much anymore....:D

I don't think V has made any difference, but I don't think V is the problem.

This thread should really be about the people above V who run this team--and their choice of personnel--both off and on the field.

This is crazy. Bobby V gets a lot of love and a lot of hate. I think he has done a decent job with the cards he was dealt. Boston has a lot of pressure and the team has had a lot of injuries. We are only one game under .500 with 99 games left to be played and with a lot of impact players coming back within the next couple of months. I still am pretty optimistic that we will turn this season around.

V has not been much of a solution but he is surely not the problem. There are things I wish he did differently and there are times when I just don't have an idea where V is going. However while there are things I wish I saw more of from V and his coaches, I just think the problems that the Sox have go so far past what a manager and his coaches can be expected to do that they are at the bottom of my "blame" list.

Hawkeye only works as a form of instant replay, with line umpires still calling the shots. Well, we could always put MLB umpires on big ass chairs so they can actually see where the ball is

I'd agree that the whining to media is helping nobody, aside from the opposing pitchers. It's more of a distraction than anything though. One thing this team has lacked from Bobby, besides the Youk comment early, has been accountability. Ever since Pedroia (and presumably the FO) neutered him, he has failed to hold his players accountable for their play.

That is true. Someone else here wrote that the respectable thing for Valentine to do is to resign; he has been throttled by our FO and the foxes on the club are still guarding the henhouse.

Furthermore, the Red Sox do not need Bobby Valentine to embarass them. They are doing a fine job of that all by themselves. If they want to be embarassed, all they need to do is to look in the mirror.
