He does this every year.

Last year, he went through a spurt of 41 games from 4/22 - 6/8 when he hit .212/.325/.279.

He went back to Boston in the 3rd game of the NYY series and got his knee checked out, turned out it was fine.

Then from June 10th to August 3rd (47 games), he hit .393/.463/.663.

He always goes through a really cold spell right before he gets white hot.

It's just odd that straight after an injury he was expected to go on the DL for he comes back quickly and begins to strike out. And Peddey is one of those players who will try to fight through an injury even if it's a tough one (Which is what makes the nation love him).

He's a really good pitcher. Has a 3.05 ERA since 2010.

Should have scored there.

Yup. Can't waste leadoff doubles like that and expect to win.

Well they got the double and a free pass to 3rd and still could not get the guy home....not very good situational hitting when you can get the game back to even steven. WMB did not do s*** either.

I agree he's not right, but he could bust out of it at any minute, that's what I'm saying. He doesn't gradually get hot. He goes from ice cold to white hot in the span of 1 AB. So you don't want to sit him when he could start scorching at any minute. Plus, his defense is elite so even when he's not hitting like normal, he still provides elite defense up the middle.

I was shocked when I heard this, but I believe the MLB average for scoring in the situation of man on 3rd, less than 2 outs is like 59%. Seems like professional baseball hitters should be much better than that.

if DiceK continues to pitch this way, i would like to Bard who? he is been on the money so far.. but again too early to say..

Do you know if that's higher than with a runner on 2nd and 0 out? Curious about bunting situations.

Way too early. But just about anyone would be better than Bard, right?

Good question, and I don't know. I heard it on a broadcast recently, so I don't have the numbers.

wow 23 batters with bases loaded in 08 09 and none of them got a hit... with Bard hehehe they literally got hit...

edit this stat is for Dicek

I think thats overstating it. Some people here wanted to give him more time, but I don't think any sane person loved his performance as a SP

i am going to put it out there.. i could be totally wrong. but if we make a stretch DiceK's contribution is going to be key.. and he is going to be our dark horse.. with a solid ERA

Pretty disappointing though to have three RH hitters come up against a LH pitcher and not have enough bat control in the first two cases to advance the runner and inch and then have the third hitter just fail. As I have said before I think many of the Sox hitters have a bad case of getting to greedy. Get me my tie please and let somebody else get the hit that puts us up.

Another wasted opportunity. Its what bad teams do.

Seven run rule in effect today. We get seven runs and we have even odds of winning this game.

Based on what? Even at his worst, Daisuke giving up 7 runs is extremely unlikely. Are you expecting a bullpen meltdown?

I am expecting a DiceK meltdown. Wouldn't be his first.

No, but they aren't exactly his norm. Seems a pessimistic view considering he's been pretty good through 3. Granted, he's getting a lot of the plate, but his off speed pitches are moving real well and the hitters don't seem to be getting through his deception yet.

OK, seven is an exaggeration. But I do think we will need at least five to win this. Our pitching is not very good, and this is DiceK's first time back.
