Not to mention Ortiz and Nava in the DH and LF spots respectively

They need to find a buyer for Youk. Since coming back from the DL, he's hitting back to his career norms. Someone will want that kind of production at 3rd, but putting his glove at 1st might be just as valuable. There won't be any arbitration picks from him-- its definitely worth seeing what kind of deals are out there.

What they need to do is send Middlebrooks back to Pawtucket until September once the outfield is healthy again. Call him up just before September 1st so he's playoff eligible and then have all three of Youk, Gonzo and WMB on the roster for the post season.

If this team wants to win a title this year, their best chance is with Youkilis still on the roster. Besides, there's a real chance that with the new CBA, they'll get more value out of the two picks they'll get from him declining arb than a trade anyway. A team trading for him would not get a draft pick return on him declining arb and would have to activate his 14 million dollar option, then hope he stays healthy in 2013 to get those picks. Many teams would be picking him up as a true half season rental, which dings his value.

He heard you.

Thank God. That change was a perfect pitch. Nice job Aceves!!

And after all of that bad baseball to start the season, this team is 2.5 out of 1st place. 2 out in the L column, and 1 game out of the 2nd WC.

The Red Sox are 14-5 in their last 19 games. They're streaking, and have only a few more weeks until the pile of injured players start to swarm back in to rejuvenate the team. The AL East is looking very winnable today.

Blah blah blah Red Sox suck, blah blah blah they have no heart, blah blah blah punt the season, blah blah blah inept FO.

2.5 out of first before May ends and with half the team on the DL. How good can this team be if it gets fully healthy?

If only half the f***ing board can think like this.

I would say that this team is fortunate that a lot of the AL East is banged up, but it's not just the AL East. The entire AL is down it seems this year.

Now we have Josh Motherf***ing Beckett lined up to get us the sweep against Scherzer tomorrow. I like our chances.

Beckett is going to light it up.

Very nice win for the Sox...decent outing for Lester....think they used up all of their good fortune for the next few weeks though. The Sox really had alot' go their way this series but they made the most of their breaks as well. injuries are worrisome but the growing list of injuries around the league would suggest we don't have it any worse or better than anybody else.

As far as injury goes, I don't know if I am more sensitized to it or not but it just seems to me that more and more guys are working their way to the DL these days. Maybe it is just the overall sensitivity to injury. Concussion certainly gets treated differently now. Sweeney would likely not have been looked at twice 10-20 years ago. Maybe steroids were masking more injuries for that period.

This board wouldn't be a sox board if it wasn't occupied by pessimistic douchers who piss all over themselves with negative glee every time Lester gives up a hit or Adrian rolls one over to the 2nd baseman.

Fortunate? Half of the projected 25-man roster is/has been on the DL. They've still been hit hard by Murphy's Law.

My bet is he is going to want to ram it down detroit's throat after his start against them in April.

They got their guys back plus Abreu and we got injured and they ran us off the field. The Yanks and Rays should be putting distance between them and us. Without a cushion of games, we can chase them down when our guys are back.

We're over .500 with a team that has nick punto on its roster. Need more be said?

Yup. I have a feeling the Yanks and Rays are going to regret not putting the Sox away while they could.

And you're so obsessed with Abreu :harhar:

Its majors-wide. Just take a look at any fantasy team roster, everyone is in rough shape. The Cardinals, Phillies, Yankees, Red Sox and Angels are all very beat up. The bullpens are the worst though, all the best relievers have gotten hurt this year.

Negative glee? I don't think anyone has that except maybe jacko, but he is a Yankee fan. You can't talk. When things get tough, you take off a lot.

I don't even know how to respond to this. It's almost as if you just spotted the word "fortunate" and assume I was saying they are an overall fortunate team, specifically health wise.

Dear Lord. Please read my comments. I said they are fortunate that the AL is down, i.e. nobody is pulling away and started on a tear and started something crazy like 35-15 or something.
