So you're going to ignore an entire career's worth of All-star caliber play after 2 months and call the man a bust and a bad pick up even though all of the signs point towards him getting it together?

No one is calling him a bust. I am saying that he is not performing up to par this year. And its getting old.

Damn it Miller..all he had to do was keep the ball down to Prince and he was carting that bat back to the bat rack

Not at all. I'm just saying that we have more than enough guys on this team that begin spring training on April 1st. It would be nice to see a high paid player not treat the first half of the season as if it doesn't matter, it's become a Sox mantra.

No' date=' its .751. Or it was. Thats not good enough, not for me. Happy you are satisfied with it.[/quote']

The difference between me and you is that while we're both unhappy that Gonzo is hitting .751, I'm at least being reasonable in saying that it's probable he will have a return to form.

Obviously it's not guaranteed, I think a lot of us thought it was probably Crawford would get back into form, and he never did, he had a .600 OPS.

I just don't get how you guys can whine about paying him 20 million dollars a year, and just ride his ass because he's only hitting slightly above league average, and has months to return to form.

Not trying to censor you at all, I just don't think that's really a fair or rational way to criticize someone who was an MVP candidate last year, and has proven throughout his career that .950+ OPS isn't even a fluke for him.

Yeah Fielder should seen a fastball instead of a soft 80 stuff in the zone. Get beaten again on secondary stuff.

Or at least with 2 strikes don't leave the ball up in the zone like that...for Christ's sake that could just as easily been Prince trotting around the bases with an RBI scoring ahead of him for a 5-4 score.

Can't tell you how nice it is to see someone not resort to a lot of chest thumping and name calling and just explain the reasons why they feel the way they do. Good points Emmz.

You say its "probable" that he will return to career norms; I says its "possible". Even good players have off years. A star player is fair game for complaints if he is not performing for long periods of time. He did great last year; he got kudos for it. This year, he is very mediocre and is getting well deserved complaints. When you are being paid what he is being paid, thats the way it is.

I can deal with the AGon deal Emmz, but we paid more than enough. The Crawford deal was a HUGE waste of money.

I see Oswalt found a home though, that's nice.

I agree, I would have never paid that much to Crawford, but Gonzo is the real deal. Crawford was a bad deal because he'd have to put up his best stuff for his entire contract essentially to be worth 20 million, and a lot of those speed guys really don't last very long.

s***' date=' I even knew that was a dumb signing. A700?[/quote']I wanted to sign him, but not overpay him by $20 million more than the next highest bidder and not over-extend the team to the point where they can't make moves for years. That was financial recklessness.

He is wrong that AGon is not playing up to his $20 million dollar contact this season?

Are is 4 home runs worth more than someone else's?

Please explain how he is wrong and try not to resort to just calling him an idiot.

$22M per year. But who's counting. :D

I think Gonzo is overpaid too. Slow footed first baseman who hit 25 HRs are not worth $22 million/year.

But what if they hit .330, drive in over 110 runs, and play GG defense?

Also, Papi is hardcore.

Bard out after 5+ innings and 94 pitches. 3 relievers since then. They'll finally bring one in the Tigers can hit. Bound to happen when you throw 4-5 pitchers out there.

Bard doesn't show much beyond the fastball--which is around 93-94 as a starter. He's effective if he can keep it on the corners. He's not the dominant pitcher he is setting up--where that 97 heat goes a long way. If he's going to be more than a back end starter, his off speed stuff needs to be better. He's a Pap type of pitcher, and fits better setting up or closing. It's not worth the climb unless he can be a top 3 starter.
