We lost the Reddick trade

As days go by this year I feel better and better about the trade. I can't say the same about all of the trades, but I don't think we lost too badly here.

This year the trade looks pretty good for us, but last year Reddick had a 4.5 WAR. The gap is pretty big in Oakland's favor.

True but anytime you acquire a closer for a position player, WAR is going to favor the position player. It's just weighted in favor position players.

 

In all of baseball last year, Craig Kimbrel was the best reliever at a 3.3 WAR. There were 50 batters with a war of 3.4 or better. Just tough to compare is all I'm saying.

If and it is a bit if, but if Bailey can stay healthy for one full season and pitch for it the way he has pitched so far this year, I do not think there is anything that Riddick will do in Oakland or I should say, would have done here that will unbalance the deal in Oakland's favor. However, can Bailey stay healthy for a whole season?

You just can't make a judgment yet. Last year worked for A's and we needed that bat among another tons of things. Bailey was a complete bust last year. We have to wait. Hopefully Bailey is not made of glass/under perform this year... Again.

 

Well iortiz, it is starting to look like Bailey is made of crape paper. The guy seems to have one ailment after another and in the meantime we have to endure watching trash like Mortsensen, Wilson and Miller f*** things up for us just about every time they enter a game. I'm wondering if this series we just endured was a blip on our season or whether we were really exposed as a medicore bunch against a good team. We looked like crap warmed over to be blunt about it. The Red Sox need to brace themselves and come back swinging the next two or three series. This past one was a real downer.:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown
