Back into a corner again. We now MUST win the next two games, and in one of those, Buchholtz is pitching. We could easily get swept.

Gotta admit that I cannot hate the Rays. These guys have come up from being doormats with a budget that is less than a quarter of ours to beat the snot out of our arrogant overpaid entitled overrated guys. They want to win; they have heart and play like it in front of fans that don't appreciate them. Too much respect for that franchise to hate the Rays. I reserve all my hate for the Yankees.

I still hate them

But i do agree with 98% of your post

Hate their stupid ballpark....hate the way Madden gets treated like some kinda' god....hate most of their ugly assed players....have respect for what they have done on their budget but hate most of the individual players enough to drive me up a wall.....just rub me the wrong way...admittedly mostly because of Scott. In reality I just do not like the way we lay down for these bums. Watching Rays laughin' and high fivin' as they head back to their Grand Slam dugout does not even seem to be enough to wake up this bunch.

Ya' I know we are 1 up in the season series but does it really feel that way? Not to me!

I respect their management. As for the players, they're no different from other players. Most of the Rays aren't making that much money right now but at some point, if they're good enough and they last, they will want to get paid. At that point they will leave the team by free agency, like Crawford, or get traded first, like Garza.

We'll win the next two. Yep ..........

Y'all should lay off BTR. He's cool and a good member out here. We all have our differences.

Here's a really strange and useless fact about the Rays that I just noticed. They have had different closers now for 8 f***ing years in a row.

And some lucky team will grab the FA. Like the Sox did with Crawford.

The one exception is Longoria. He signed a contract that was just plain stupid.

Didn't see the game. But depressing again. Seems Everytime we have a chance to catch Toronto or Tampa it slips through our fingers. Here's hoping we can get

The win tomorrow.

On the lighter side of things Toronto is getting demolished by Texas.

Lester is about to give his post game presser...this should be interesting.

Didn't see it. Anything of interest? What sorry excuses did he come up with?

NESN announced it was about to happen and I am still waiting....Pedey just got done...said his usual stuff...nothing unPedeylike.

NESN keeps teasin' that there is more coming and like you I really would like to hear what Lester has to say about this one.

Remember last time he specifically said he realized he had to get this thing with him and the umps under control and he totally lost it again tonight even having just said that he knows it is an issue one game ago. I think you said you missed the game but he let the ump completely get under his skin...lost it and balls starting flying out including a GSHR.

For the record, I like BTR. I love his sewermouth tactlessness. And I am not going to be the one to hold him to his promise to take a month off this board if the Sox are not out of last place by June 1, or whatever the details were for his vacation.

I disagree. I think their players play harder than ours do. Our guys have already secured huge contracts, many of them at least. They are still trying to get there and they try harder. I don't see the Rays' pitchers staring in at the umpire when they miss a call either. And the management keeps finding value-type players. Ours finds misfits, has-beens, and washed up relics to go along with the MEFIRSTS that have been here for a long time. I respect their franchise a great deal too.

The issue is not how good the Rays are but how sucky we are.

As has been discussed many times here, management allowed the team to become totally unbalanced signing far to many "stars" into long term big money contracts and retaining far to few cost controlled players still playing for their first big deal. That is death in the MLB that we have today. You tie your fate to these big monster contract guys and they become an anchor dragging you down.

Heck the difference is so great that while we fans would probably have been screaming bloody murder, the Sox would in many cases have been better off building a team of more cost controlled players and pocketing the money instead of spending it as they did. Again we would have screamed bloody murder but frankly we just don't know any better.....have to spend lots of money....the yanks do so we have to. How is that workin' for them by the way.

I am hearing a lot about how well the Sox have played over the last 2 weeks. Yet, they have made no move in the standings. They are still in last place.

And in my view there is a direct correlation there between views expressed in the off season now being played out before our very eyes.

There are more good teams this year in the AL and the result is that more teams are going to rob wins away that we would like to have. So you go 10 and 3 over 13 games and can't move out of the basement.

It does not matter whether some of these teams will be there at the end or not. They are going to take wins away making it harder to make up ground. That does not mean there are not some really crummy teams out there also. In fact I still think by the end of the season we are going to see some God awful records. But we will also see more middle ground than we are used to seeing. The Sox absolutely could not afford to get off to a slow start this year 1) because of the profile of the league and 2) because the profile of the team did not suggest the ability to go off on some monster run of wins.

All we heard was how early in the season it was when in fact, we needed those wins so that we would not be where we are today...able to rip of 10 wins in 13 games only to find ourselves still sucking the tailpipes of the entire division.

True but that's without Ellsbury, Crawford, Dice-K, Lackey, Youkilis (till just recently) and now Ross and WMB. I think those guys being healthy could possibly add up to 7-10 more wins than we have now.

Wish our starting pitching would wake the F up.

The point is that we have been playing well and we haven't picked up ground or moved up the standings. There are no patsies in the ALE, so it will be hard to move quickly up the standings. I don't think anyone expected that the Sox would be in last place as we go into the last week of May.
