BV knows that his starters can only go 6 innings max. He has decided that each reliever has their role to stretch them out over several days to cover up for a rotation who doesn't go deep into games.

Padilla has a SP mentality. He should have no problem stretching it out. Same with Miller and Aceves. Albers is used to going 2 innings or so. Still, this is not an ideal situation.

s***, they need to lose. Didn't they get the memo.

Nice HR by the new guy, by the way.

Ummm...the Jays are also ahead of us. They have to lose too.

It isn't about their mentality its about how many pitches they can throw over several days. BV believes in match ups. Tha's why this pen has a low ERA now that he has figured out everyone's role. Besides Padilla is superb at not letting inherited runners score.

I think that part of it IS mental. A SP most likely is mentally ready to throw multiple innings, more so than a reliever who is used to going maybe one inning plus. I would have no problem with Padilla, for example, pitching two+ innings, but I would not want to see Morales, Hill, or many of the other RP do that.

The whole point is he has to use these guys over several days. He is trying to avoid using them (other than Padilla who is a horse like Aceves) other than for select batters per inning.

Here he comes folks Mr Excitement AGons...and there he goes doing his best d-mac impression. Those stats at the bottom of the screen were as sickening as that at bat. I guess that first pitch just looked to juicy to pass up.

You gotta drop Gonzales down in the order soon, right? I am not so sure he is going to "come around" this year. Maybe he is just having an off year. Guys stinking up the place like he is do not hit cleanup.
