Oh boy, we get to see Punto with his .138 batting average, and career scrub Nava is batting 6th in a power slot. He does have 1 career HR. It was a grand Salami.

Punto hadn't had a hit in a month+.

Nava doesn't bother me as much as MacDime, who the Sox valued as a silver dollar. :o

Well sometimes even a blind, mentally retarded, crippled squirrel will run into a nut, maybe Nava will.

Last chance for Buchholz. Hopefully he has a good outing and we can keep him and Dice-K will be able to replace Beckett in the rotation. Maybe we could trade Beckett, but we will have to probably eat a big portion of his salary.

Good luck again tonight folks! Going to be a tough one to win for us, unless Ubaldo pitches like he did last game.

Wouldn't that lineup look a lot better if it were:

Ellsbury CF

Pedroia 2B

Ortiz DH

Gonzalez 1B

Middlebrooks 3B

Crawford LF

Sweeney RF (or Ross)

Lavarnway C

Aviles SS

Fortunately the Sox FO is more patient than most of us. I don't think Buchholz throws for his life tonight. A) because they have seen him at his best and likely think he can reachieve that given his age and B ) They don't have a lot of choice. Between Beckett's issues and their complete lack of other options, Buchholz would (at worst) get demoted for a tune up.

Man how I hate these two out walks. Maybe every pitcher suffers from them to some extent but it does seem to me that we end up with an inordinate number of them. Our guys seem so relieved to get two outs like the inning is over.

How long will BUMHOLZ last tonite; what will be his line?

I say 4 innings/6 runs. Optimistically.

Welcome to the slaughterhouse folks.
