There is a ton of baseball left to be played and the All-Star Break isn't until early July. With Ellsbury and Crawford shelved until at least the All-Star Break, this Red Sox team is in some serious trouble, however things can still be turned around. If things persist, I see Boston being the team who spoils the party for another AL East contender such as the upstart Orioles and/or the unpredictable Blue Jays. Right now Boston is well on the outside looking in and this is not something they haven't seen in nearly 8 years. Who knows what this team will be like when Ellsbury and Crawford return and we really don't know what will happen after they are back in the everyday lineup. I get a bad feeling Crawford will be a limited player in an everyday lineup with his recent history of season-altering injuries. On the other side I think Ellsbury will be ready and healthy to play once he's cleared to play.

Some people may not want to believe it, but it is true. The marketing and business side of this organization is aces, but the guys responsible for the product on the field are incompetent.

I cant blame Bobby Valentine. This team is full of jokers on the field. Some might not be but others are. They just have this losers mentality the last couple of years. The pitching has been up and down some games as well as the hitting.

I blame upper management. Bobby V probably regrets taking the job. Maybe he will fake a heart attack to get out of this mess.

I agree. Clean house and clean it thoroughly, there ain't much to love about this team right now so start by cutting the head off the monster. Don't blame Valentine for not being in control of something that's uncontrollable, ask Tito how easy it was to babysit this hodge-podge of over-paid unaccountable children.

I have about the same view of V as a Manager as I have had about our starting pitching. I was not particularly impressed with 1,2, 3 in our rotation before the season started so they really had to s*** the bed to play poorly enough to even play below my relatively low expectations.

I don't think V has been good as the Manager of this team but I did not expect much from V anyway. Ya' don't stay on the shelf for that many years in a profession with so much turnover without there being some reasons.

I even think the amount of time V has been on the shelf have contributed to some of his issues as a manager. I actually wish I could say that V has just been background noise but unfortunately I don't think that has been the case. I can say as I have said elsewhere that I don't believe in his wildest nightmares this team plays as poorly as it has played. I think managing this team has turned out to be much more challenging than V envisioned it to be. I can't really say that is V's fault though.

It is a poorly constructed team of disjointed parts. They don't play well together as a team and it is difficult to discern a cohesive, concerted effort from what they do on the field together.

I know we have very little to look forward to and as a consequence I think we on a daily basis add more an more emphasis to our expectations for the return of Ells and CC. However I would not look for that to be like some sort of light switch turning on. This was a poorly constructed team with Ells and CC. They will simply add to the individual talent pool when they return and surely that will have an impact. Like I said though, don't be surprised when it does not turn out to be some sort of light switch that suddenly turns them into a juggernaut.

An Uncertain Season, how about a lost season. I was very optimistic before the season started and now I'm completly deflated. You would think that Beckett and Lester would have come out smoking after last year's collapse, but instead are extending September's performance. Bucholtz is a shell of himself from 2 years ago and Youkilis can't seem to brush his teeth without injuring himself. I highly doubt we see Bailey pitch this year and with coglomerate of clusterf***s in the bullpen every late inning lead will be sickening. The only thing Im looking forward to is the July trading deadline, hopefully management can show some balls and move this garbage. And to boot, there are no pitchers in the minors that will have an impact this year or next. There is no upside to this team, we'll be at least 15 games out of the division come the trade deadline and it won't matter if we get Crawford and Ellsbury back

We all know it can be fixed and we all know how it can be fixed.

Clean house.

Now.

The only question is whether the owners have the cajones to do what is necessary. I am betting nothing happens at all other than a minor trade.

I don't think we will see any trade, unless it is a waiver wire trade.

What's the point in cleaning house right this second? There are less players available and it wouldn't really help this season.

I doubt the Sox will clean house right now, but they will probably be sellers at the trade deadline on July 31. Even if it means eating some money/a lot of money, they will be better off getting rid of many of Epstein's mistakes. The big question mark will be if Beckett, Youkilis, Saltamalacchia, Gonzalez, and/or Lester will be producing well enough to bring back any return.

This is sad, and I am so glad Theo is gone.

I think we should call the Angels about Pujols while his value is low.
