That's like 1.5 months. There's no need to go get bandaid after bandaid after bandaid.

The Sox are playing very good baseball right now. If they need anything, it's a bullpen arm. They don't need another OF.

What's the deal with Crawford? Everyone's saying 3 months but he shot that down. And yeah, I'm just gonna stay in the don't sign abreu camp. No real need for it.

If it's a free bandaid, why not, especially when a bandaid is all that's needed?

Crawford said he has no idea where people are getting 3 months from. The Sox and Crawford both expect him back before the ASB, maybe even my mid to late June.

That's back with the Red Sox, not back rehabbing.

Any news on jacoby?

We had are chances when we finally started to make some better at bats but we did not do enough with them and to much of the game had gone by at that point.

Those back to back at bats by Sweeney and Aviles were killers tonight. Sweeney swung at ball 4 and popped up. He would have been on base with only one out when Mike came up. Then Mike missed that 0-1 FB that was right down main street and unless something happens here in our half...that was the game.

Why do they need Abreu??

Sweeney is hitting very well.

Ross is hitting well.

Byrd is doing just fine.

I just don't see the need for him just because he's available.

You play 162 and you're gonna lose a couple. We'll get him tomorrow and them we have our two aces, one of which is an oriole killer, lined up for Baltimore.

Get him send Anderson down. With the way our outfield is getting hurt it could hurt.

Coming into tonight's game, this team was 1st in Runs and 3rd in OPS.

They're also 29th in ERA.

So if you are going to make a move, you dish a guy like Lars + a mid-level arm to Oakland for Balfour. Or you dish a couple guys to the White Sox for Thornton. This teams offense is fine.

A little bullpen depth couldn't hurt.

I think some people are really going into homerism. People need to take a step back and look what we are rolling out as a team:

Mike Aviles- KC reject

DMac - AAAA player

Sweeney -- throwin on trade for Reddick-- He'll hit under 10 HRs

Punto -- a pudgie old utility IFer who can't reach first base from third base

Marlon Byrd-- in his best days he was okay, but on the other side of the hill

Salty-- An adequate catcher

Ross-- A nice role player, but not a full time OFer

Amongst all this, we have three bona fide stars-- Pedroia, Ortiz and AGon. If two out of 3 of them don't hit every game, we will have trouble.

Add to this the fact that we have an atrocious pen, and this team needs help in many forms and shapes. This attitude of waiting until guys gets healthy will keep us in last place.

Gammon's...I am so tired of him already..."there hasn't been many complaints" about the ump. I just don't think anybody on either team thinks this guy can see...what are they going to complain about...guy has a handicap

The reality is that the Red Sox have a lot of holes to fill, and only so many resources to fill them. The outfield may be a pile of scrubs, but it also has three guys with 20/20 potential coming back in a month or two, so it doesn't make sense to get a quality player to fill all those spots. The most glaring weakness is the bullpen-- that is an absolute need, and I'd bet they find someone to fill that 8th inning role before Bailey returns.

Career OPS vs RHP: Ross .730, Byrd .742, Abreu .926. That's why.

-That KC Reject is on pace for 36 HR and over 100 RBI.

-D-Mac is an AAAA player who crushes guys like David Price and helps this team win games vs LHP.

-Sweeney has always been a high average, high OBP guy. He's not a power hitter. He's slid into the 2 slot very nicely. And he's got a .943 OPS right now

-Punto shouldn't be playing at all. But we also have Will Middlebrooks just waiting for the call when Youk goes down.

-Salty is a HR or nothing C, but again, we have reserves in AAA (Lavarnway) who can come up at any time. Either way, Salty's .801 OPS right now would rank 9th in the MLB among qualified catchers. Offensively, he's a league average catcher.

- Cody Ross has a .876 OPS right now. You can't complain about this guy.

There have been quite a few players step up right now. I don't know why you're so worried about this offense. They have scored the most runs in the MLB going into tonight's game, and that's with Gonzo OPS'ing .737.

I agree that the team has more issues than just a bull pen. Just don't think Bobby is an answer if that is the ongoing discussion. Maybe d-mac going down would be the obvious choice if they did get him. Optimally I suspect Bobby is ready to DH someplace and we have that covered I think.
