I would call it a mixed performance... He has also made some really awesome pitches. To call it a "poor" preformance is unfair.

Bard's made it through the tough part of the order-- there's a chance he can make it through 7, and that would be a huge accomplishment for him.

I am beginning to be a bit more convinced that Bard is working some of these hitters this way. Salty wanted that last FB to Longoria inside and Bard got it there for a FB K. God help him if he had missed that by even a little bit though if it got more of the plate.

He has given up two hits and not allowed any runs. Aside from the walks, a pretty good start for our #5 SP. So far.

Now for our batters to stop swinging like it is going out of style. Shields is only to 55 pitches.

Bard is pitching well. He tends to play with fire with the walks. Sooner than later they bite you.

The big problem is that Shields is mowing them down quite efficiently and could be out there all day.
