Ross sucks. Sweeney sucks. McDonald sucks. Shoppach sucks. Salty sucks. Aviles sucks. Punto sucks.

I'd trade any of them for a 31 year old low A-ball long reliever.

Overreact much?

I expected more out of Youkilis; he isn't as talented as he used to be. And McDonald simply doesn't belong in anyone's starting lineup. Nor does Cody Ross. Both of those guys should be backups at best. And nearly the whole pitching staff is mediocre.

The risk of regression with Youkilis is a valid concern. They need to monitor this and consider alternatives. McDonald is on the bench, and Ross can be used correctly, in a platoon role, when their starter gets back.

The description of the pitching staff is hyperbole that reflects frustration over the poor start. Yes, the current BP looks to be mediocre, but I think the starting rotation is going to be a good one.

If Youk gets injured' date=' then yes I will be worried. He was injured after August first last year.[/quote']

What about THIS year? Orsillo and Remy are saying he has altering his stance to try to learn how to hit again. He looks lost out there. Maybe he is still injured.

Yeah, they will eventually score some runs, but not as many as last year IMO. Not unless Crawford comes back and tears it up out there.

Its just going to be a long season apparently.

This might be the worst offense game for the Red Sox in the last 10 years.

Last year losing to the Guardians to fall to 0-6 rings a bell. Lester pitched an absolute gem. Allowed three hits and got docked for the 1-0 loss.

This game reminds me a lot of that one and ironically it's the 6th game of the year again.

Please explain this. The only legitimate worry I see at this point is the pen. Anyone who thinks this lineup isn't gonna score runs is just an idiot and I see 3 #1 quality pitchers in the rotation with two who have potential.

The pen is the biggest concern to be sure. If Youkilis cannot snap out of this we will not be scoring anywhere near as many runs as last year, again, unless Crawford performs exceedingly well. Ellsbury will likely regress too.

Let's sit Sweeney today, one of the only guys swinging the bat worth a damn.

I'd take Sweeney in CF over McDonald 100/100 times.

Lefty on the hill. Sweeney's a pretty strong platoon player. BV made the right call starting the two righties. The whole team isn't hitting today. Sweeney in vs a LHP doesn't turn the tide.

They don't even make him throw a lot of pitches. Show some f***ing vision for f*** sakes.

dude you make me laugh.. you rock!

Someone please get me an ice pick. It must feel better then watching this team play.

:joke:

This is a stupid conversation. Either Youk figures it out or he doesn't... I think he will based on talent level. You think he won't.

A guy with a lower OPS than Salty? Ok!

a guy whos obp was 40 points higher......30 less k's ( in 100 more ab's ) drew twice as many walks......yeah that guy....just because you picked the one stat of saltys that was better than martins does not make him a better option

How is kevin such a huge factor now when he was decidedly meh last season? We were dealing with s***** Crawford and youk wasnt much better. If craw returns to form then we are in position to be better if youk can limp his way to numbers remotely similar to last year.

Nice job (again) by Lester today. Thats good to see.

Its just not acceptable to go home 1-5 after six games. I don't care WHO we are playing.
