Tigers team scares the piss out of me' date=' I've never been afraid of another team before but Cabrera and Fielder then Verlander and a solid bullpen. wow.[/quote']

No team scares me. When the Yankees are healthy and right, they can beat anyone. We just need to get Freddy out of the rotation, see what Hughes can do in the pen and get Pineda and Pettitte throwing well and we'll be just as dangerous.

Casey Kelly threw 6IP, 5H 0R 9K tonight in AAA. So far 13IP total in two outing and not a single walk/HR given up, all of this playing in launching pad Tucson. He should MLB bound mid season if he keeps performing like that.

Drew Storen' date=' closer for the Nats had surgery to remove a bone chip from his elbow and he will be out until the beginning of July.[/quote']

It seems like good closers are hard to come by this year. So many injuries already. Santos is getting lit up, Madson is out, Bailey is out, Storen is out, Farnsworth is out....

Wainright gave up 8 runs in 3 innings. He's 0-2 with an 11.82 ERA at 13+ months after TJ. I don't think we can expect much better from Dice K. I don't think a June 1st return to the rotation is realistic at all.

The Marlins ballpark is absolutely massive. Haha yeah they going to change to dimensions when Stanton, Hanley, Morrison complain by the end of the season.

Nobody seems to want to believe that the last thing that comes back is command. Wainwright averaged 90.7mph in his solid 2010 campaign. He isnt a velocity freak, he's a stuff and command guy. DiceK isnt a velo freak either, so it takes time to come back.

You are an MD, and you have basically confirmed for me that the timeline of a June 1st return to the MLB rotation is not realistic. You have had a number of posts about recovery from TJ surgery. Yet, people have optimistically pushed up his return date from Aug to the All Star break to June 1st. If he is effective at all in 2012, I am saying that will be in September.

Cliff Lee pitched 10 IP of shutout ball tonite. 102 pitches. Jesus. Hopefully Lester is taking notes.

This is insane. Almost Pedro Martinez 10 perfect innings insane.

Rays Expected To Sign Hideki Matsui

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [April 23 at 4:29pm CST]

The Rays are expected to sign designated hitter Hideki Matsui, Jack Curry of the YES Network reports (Twitter links). Matsui, who turns 38 in June, could sign a minor league contract with the Rays before long.

Matsui spent last year with the Athletics and posted a .251/.321/.375 line with 12 home runs and 28 doubles in 585 plate appearances. However, he finished strong, posting a .295/.353/.425 line in the second half. Matsui, a Wasserman Media Group client, has been preparing for the 2012 season in the New York area, according to Curry.

Jason Bay to the DL ,

SO glad they didn't re-sign him as he's been on a free fall since then

I was just talking to a Mets season ticket holder about Bay. He called him an enigma. He hasn't had wear and tear type injuries. First, it was the concussion and now the ribs. Before and in between the injuries, he hasn't had 1 hot streak. If he hits a couple of HRs there is absolutely no carry over. He told me that he hasn't lost bat speed. He is rarely late on a pitch. He just seems to swing through a lot of pitches.

It's certainly strange , he's not that old yet and post Mets he was a 900 OPS player
