Woooot got RF box seats for August 22nd Vs the Angels! First time I've been to Fenway in like 15 years. My Dutch girlfriend who I have done a fantastic job molding into a rabid Sox fan has never been. She is already saying Boo-jols lol

That's awesome! I'm sure it'll be a blast. Your girlfriend is a keeper. If you can convert her to a Red Sox fan that's a plus. If she hates the Yankees, marry her. :)

Going to try this again, hopefully with better luck. I need help from everything down to hotels, transportation, food, etc. I'm definitely going big at Fenway, getting great seats and spending a lot of money on Red Sox gear when I'm there. However, when it comes to where to sleep and taxi's etc, I need something real cheap. This is all coming out of my money. I'm looking to spend no more than a grand for everything.

If you are going big at Fenway RSF305, splurge!!!!!!!! Go through Red Sox Destinations and have the time of your life---good hotel, meeting good people and making friends, a nice lunch and reception, meeting a couple of Red Sox players and having your picture taken with them, pretty good seats, etc. What's not to like. Look, I've gone this route nine or ten times and never have been disappointed. Besides, they put you within walking distance of Fenway and further Boston is a great walking town. Most everything is within walking distance. Go for it!!!!!!!

I'd avoid taxis if you want to save money. A one-way trip from one side of the city to the other could cost you up to $70-80 dollars. You can get either a weekend pass/ week pass to the subway for much cheaper, and is relatively reliable if you stay in Boston proper. The Kenmore T-stop is part of the experience anyway-- you basically pack into the train, and follow a gigantic crowd of people to the game.

The Boston team store is expensive... but pretty much everywhere sells Red Sox stuff. Its great for paraphenilia, foam fingers, jerseys and specialized items, but for hats and t-shirts you're better off going to regular stores.

Food depends on your tastes. I have many many favorites, and I've only lived near the city for six months.

There are a few hostels in Boston, but I don't know anything about them. Might be a cheaper alternative if you want to put more resources into the games/ Red Sox gear.

My main concern is transportation. I know taxi's are expensive but I somehow need to get out of the airport. That subway idea is great!! I need to look into that so I can interact with fans and make sure it's walking distance to the hotel(a lot of members tell me Boston has a lot of areas walking distance, so that's good.) I need absolutely everything to go perfect for this trip to work.

Yeah, the airport can be the tough part-- you can either take a shuttle to the blue line, and then take the blue line to the green line, or you can pay $50 for a cab each way. Usually I check to see if there is a line at the cab-stand, and make my decision based on that.

The week long T pass is a good idea if you're staying a few days. You'll basically have limitless trips around the city, and most everything else you'd probably be interested in is walkable from the T stop. The shuttle to the blue line is also probably the way to go.

As for hotels, before I moved here we would stay at the Holiday Inn in Brookline. It's a straight shot up the street to Fenway from there. Not exactly sure what rates look like as my Dad travels and we'd just use his points, but if you book it early enough it shouldn't be too bad.

I find my biggest expense when going to games is drinks typically..... There's no where cheap to buy them around the park. If you go with 3-4 people it's very easy to double your food bill in drinks alone without even noticing, and that's before you even get into the park. If you're not big on the alcohol that'd probably save a lot of money.

Can anyone give me a link to the website for the subway? I'm trying to plan everything ahead of time. I'm only 18 so I can't legally buy my own drink, but thnks anyways Lucienbel

It is a lot less confusing than it looks. The blue line gets you to the airport, and the green line gets you to the core of the city, like the North End, Fenway Park, Bank North Garden etc.

Yeah, I found it pretty easy. Go to the airport, take subway and get off Government Center. Then catch the D green line to go to Fenway. I'll definitely have everything ready before I go so I know what I'm doing. I really appreciate the help Pal. You're making it less stressful by giving me this info.

Pro-tip, only the tourists get off at Fenway. The park is actually closer to Kenmore.

Me and my wife stayed in Boston for a week last summer. You definitely want a week long pass that covers trains, t line, and buses. I think they cost us under$20 bucks a piece. Walking around Boston is also fun and easy, it's smaller geographically then I thought.

For inexpensive lodging I am a big fan of airbnb.com . Have fun!

I did not use a hotel, to expensive. Go to airbnb.com. You will find private rooms, bed and breakfasts, empty apartments, lofts, vacation homes etc..... you can rent for a week at a fraction of the cost of a motel.

I plan on taking a tour of Fenway, but also interested in the batting practice tour before the game. Is the batting practice tour worth it?

The batting practice tour can be fun, depending on if you get lucky with the hitters taking batting practice. Its always fun to go up on the monster and see the view from up there though. The only thing is that it will take away some time from the rest of the tour. In the non- batting practice tour you will get to see more of the park, and see some different things. I've done both and I would recommend both, it just depends on what you would rather see.

Well I'll be in Boston for a total of 5 days, 3 of them are game days. Batting practice tours are only done 3 hours before the game. I was planning on taking the Fenway tour on a non game day. I guess I'll do both. Thanks a lot Quinny!

I went on a BP tour a few years back. It's great, but I also went to one in Cleveland, where we went into the cages in the clubhouse and watched the Sox players hit (they were in Cleveland, which was why I was there). Then a few of them introduced themselves. Pretty cool. Because Fenway is now a National Historic Monument, they don't do that, but they never did it in the first place. My BP tour was the afternoon before a Sox-Yanks game. If you need any ideas on what to do in Boston, where to eat in or outside the park, or anything else, just let me know.

I'll try to take some time off from work and show you around Mike. You'll return to Miami fat. :))

If Spud is coming out to join the party, I definitely have to get there. Spud, RSFFL, iortiz, me and hopefully SFF too. Sounds like an interesting day. We'll have to wear our TS shirts.

Did iOrtiz confirm he was going? I do know he said he was trying to go in July, not sure what series though. Forget the talksox shirts, we need name tags
We'll recognize each other. We have Pete's travelogue photos. We've seen your photos and SFF's. iortiz will be the other young guy and I'll be the other old but very good looking guy.

I'm eating lunch at Game On! today, the sports bar located right next to the park. I recommend it for anyone who's going to a game.
