If the Cards win it in 7' date=' there's a new Billy Buckner.. I honestly think Cruz could have had that ball.[/quote']

I don't know about Buckner, but he defintely held back.

BTW, can anyone honestly say that the All Star game doesn't matter that much at this point?

By all rights Texas should have been playing at home in games 6 and 7.

He could have had it but no way they blow it up on Cruz.

I HOPE THE RED SOX ARE WATCHING AND WONDERING WHY THE HELL IT ISN'T THEM OUT THERE PLAYING IN UNBELIEVABLE GAMES LIKE THIS.

THIS. They better come back next season hard. I'm tired of watching playoff baseball without the Red Sox.

Yup, he actually slowed down while chasing it....really poor fielding there by Cruz. Some really poor fielding in general, despite Napoli's missile to Beltre to tag out Holliday.....That was a GREAT play.

Cruz is a weak defender anyway. Good athleticism, ten cent head. But that was just inexcusable on a potential last out of the World Series. You have to make that play.

Yeah 91 was one of the best overall series. Obviously I don't remember it personally' date=' being 4 at the time. But a700, he had to be at least 80 or 85 in 1991, so he's probably the one to ask.[/quote']LOL!! Yes, I remember it well. I was a mere pup of 32 at the time. That was a great Series.

This is very exciting, but not very well executed or managed. The managers are now even. Each has given away 1 game. Their WAR should be -1.

Joe Buck had the chance to make a memorable call on Freese's walk-off, but all he could mange was "We'll see you tomorrow night."

Where is Vin Scully when you need him?

Fugg, I'm going to the movies/dinner with the wife and a big group of friends from work tomorrow night. I'll miss most of the game (movie from 7:30 to about 10:00 CST), and the theater we are going to has a strong "no phone usage during the movie" policy. Such is life.

He stole it from his dad, who said that in game 6 of the 1991 world series when Puckett hit the walk-off.

Aren't most movie theathers like that about cell phones? Regardless, I do it anyways.

I picture some guy who looks like the Soup Nazi coming out and snatching your cell phone.

LOL! You are a cheap date. LOL!

Baseball is baseball. Whether it is the Sox or some other team, I can empathize with the feelings other fans have. To get to that point, twice, and pull it out is absolutely unbelievable. That's what sports is all about.

Yes, such is life. Hopefully the movie is good.

What does a no phone usage policy mean? You can't quietly open your phone to check the score? Lame.

Please, it would have been an organizational disgrace to run out the like of Wakefield and Lackey against these lineups. The Red Sox are exactly where they deserved to be for this game - on their couches.

But we have pitchers like Beckett, Lester, Bard, Aceves, Papelbon, and Clay would have been available as well. Our offense when playing to it's potential is pretty nasty.

The Sox have players who certainly deserve to be on a stage that big. Plenty of them. Arguibly more than the Cardinals do.

With the right combination of players, execution and luck they can be there next year.

I'm just hoping that they are collectively jolted and embarrassed enough to do everything in their power to make it happen.

If this game (just as I post this it changes to 12 AM my time) TONIGHT, is a blow out or something, I will be very disappointed. I want to see Carpenter pitch a 10 inning shutout and Pujols walk it off or something.

It is not unusual for big emotional games to be mistake riddled as well as noted for memorable plays. Those big hits were just as tough to produce as anything else was. That said, had Cruz played the wall the way he should have, we would not have even been excited by that play. Cruz would not have even had to jump. At worst his back might have been up against that wall. You guys are right though...not as bad a play as Buckner's between the wickets.

and

I still have no idea why Wash pulled Feliz where he did. Actually both Larussa and Wash cracked a bit under the pressure showing signs of a hook that was quicker than quick.

Totally wonderful experience though. I don't think I could have survived if the Sox were in this game.

It is tough to have the all star game deciding who gets the extra game and last games in their park especially with DH vs no DH.

It was fun to watch, even though I didn't have goosebumps. I'll be watching tomorrow and not humming show tunes.

Where's Reck at?

What up Emmz? You called? :D

Texas are in deep you know what.

Cant believe they loss this game. I thought for sure they'd win it with the pathetic desense Cards put out tonight.

Tomorrow, or I guess today its a crapshoot. Either team can win it. Its not a sure thing. Game 7s are awesome. Wooo

Can some intelligent poster here give me some speculation as to why Feliz would be taken out of the game? Especially for Darren Oliver?

I mean, if it was some live arm like Ogando I would get it, but Oliver? There's a reason that guy only has like 5 career saves while not starting more than ONE game since 2004.

Yes, it would have been sweet to have him win the WS out there but seriously. Feliz's arm reminds me of Pedro in his prime. Oliver is like a bad Felix Doubront, and Doubront ain't that good.

Last night you were saying the Cards were in deep you know what' date=' just sayin'.[/quote']

Given how they were playing, it was the appropiate thing to say at the time.

If I'm Texas I dont know how you manage to lose this one. Cards were playing like they desperately wanted to lose. I saw 3 errors and I just couldn't watch anymore so I went to watch a movie. Wow.
