Abraham said yesterday at the Globe that Tito has some "personal issues" that also entered into the manager decision. The rumors are those issues related to Watney and Mae.

 

In another article about the next manager, Abraham wants each candidate available to the media when they come to town for an interview. He says they shouldn't hire a candidate who "can't deal with the media."

 

I think Abraham is overstepping a bit here. The media isn't doing the hiring.

 

I don't think Abe is overstepping at all. I think putting them in front of the media is a great idea, to see how they deal with a ton of pressure. Hell, I wish we could do that with our free agents, but it would give away the secrecy. Regardless, I don't think it's a bad idea at all.

The guy is a professional. Just because you're no longer with an organization doesn't mean you get to bash them and be an *******.

 

Francona handled it the right way.

 

The players didn't respect him as a professional. And let's face it - he will manage again there is no doubt about it. A manager who has won 2 world series in Boston never works again. I don't buy it. I think Tito gave a fair few inches and the players took many miles.

Francona is a class act whom I'm afraid will be missed in Boston.

 

The mgr always gets the blame. Mebbe there's too much money today for players to REALLY care if they win or not!?
