Glad somebody brought this up.

The Globe reported Tito was playing around--Heidi or Hazel or both.

Hazel disappeared from the MLB channel (Millar's show) abruptly when Tito left the Red Sox.

I saw her last show when she threw her notes up in the air, and abruptly left the set. Millar had no comment.

The question is whether Tito's breakup with his wife had anything to do with his playing around.

Or did it occur after he broke up with her? Did it affect the team's performance in September?

That Hohler article in the Globe revealed a lot of behind the scenes stuff the beat writers probably knew and wouldn't touch.

Terry Francona won't manage in 2012

Posted by Matt Pepin, Boston.com Staff November 16, 2011 01:36 PM

Former Red Sox manager Terry Francona told CSNNE.com's Sean McAdam he does not expect to manage in the 2012 season.

Francona interviewed for the Cardinals' manager job, but Mike Matheny was hired last week.

"When I interviewed in St. Louis, I was genuinely excited about it. St. Louis was such an exciting opportunity. But we were all beaten up at the end of the year, and after (interviewing) I took a step back and began to look at things realistically," Francona told McAdam.

Francona also said he has spoken to Cubs president Theo Epstein, the former GM of the Red Sox, but is not a candidate to be the Cubs' manager.

"I need to take a step back and re-energize. That's probably in my best interest right now. In fairness to myself, it's the best thing to do," Francona said.

VA, the only reason Francona took a step back as he put it was that he was rejected out of hand by the

Cardinals. Whether he thought he would get the job or not, he sure sounded like he would get it and was buoyed up and high spirited when he was about to be interviewed and didn't sound burned out. Let's be frank---he was turned down because the Cardinals didn't want him. I know there are dozens of people on this board who thought Terry walked on water because the Sox won two WS under him, but there are many of us who believe that he cost us at least two division titles and many games each season because of his bungling in the dugout. Compared to Maddon and a few others he was small potatoes in the dugout.

I think a lot of teams have seen through his 2 WS championships here and see his ineptitude. The fact he was looked over by 3 teams, 2 of which hire former players with no managing experience at all, and the 3rd being run by his former GM(which should of been a good sign for him, and still they didn't even want to interview him) is very telling.

I'm intrigued now, too. Did that really happen?! Gotta find that episode!

Yeah, Hazel threw her notes up over her head and walked off the set in disgust. The two clowns,

Millar and his sidekick, didn't say a word. I heard something about her going to a new job in Toronto.

I say "clowns" in a positive way--these guys are fun to watch--Millar is a piece of work. He's better at this than playing baseball.

Tito clearly has a lot of baggage, and there's no team that is going to touch him as manager this year.

He's just doing more ass--covering, saying he doesn't want to be manager this year. Yeah, he didn't want to manage in Boston, anymore, either. And Epstein didn't want to GM there. Who's kidding who.

The ass-covering is always funny. Many of the fans believe it, but the MLB is a small incestuous community. News travels fast. MLB knows that these guys were fired/out of favor. The Cubs wanted Theo nonetheless. His soft spots will become evident soon enough in Chicago. He's lucky that the fans there just don't seem to be bothered by losing.

Love Millar. The guy is a riot, and he has a good grasp on the behind the scenes stuff.

I was surprised to hear he was interviewing at all. All along I thought he'd take 2012 off. The job aged him quite a bit.

Me too. He's found his post baseball career "calling" for sure. Loved him when he was on the team too.

Looking at Millar and Damon, you know how they won in '04. The word is Millar introduced Tito to Hazel.

Henry dropped a very big clue when he said on WEEI that he was not in favor of signing Crawford. That said a lot about Epstein.

Where are you getting all of these ideas about Hazel Mae and this Tito stuff? I have never come across anything mentioning anything near what you are talking about

Good question. I pick stuff up in the Globe, Herald, Yahoo sports, tradeRumors and other chatgroups. I saw Hazel storm off Millar's show--her final appearance.
