The Mets in 2007 was a very bad collapse. I am not sure which is worse.

I think this is worse. The Mets gave up to a team with a high payroll as well. The rays payroll is like 1/4 of ours.

Which team had more expectations since day 1? Those 2007 Mets or this 2011 RS

Im with the guy who made the comment about football. Thank god it is here. But unlike most of you I am not a pats fan. I am a 49er fan, but at least they are showing signs of improvement and a possible bright future.

Well' date=' I just can't comprehend the collapse that the Red Sox are in right now.[/quote']

I can't either. Someone needs to go to Fenway and remind the Sox we're not in April. I'm never going to count on the Yankees for anything. We do our job they can go suck it.

Beckett, Lester and Bedard would pitch the series in Baltimore, right?

If we take 2 of them and 1 in NY a slightly ray of light would be there. But at this point this goes beyond winning or losing, as I said, this team is mentally devastated.

Sox take 1 in the Yanks series, 2 in the Baltimore series, and that will squeak them in.....

Said the same thing last night, I do not know how anyone could ever predict a win for this team right now. I honestly wouldn't bet a single penny on this team if they were playing a triple A team.

Expectation-wise, this is the bigger collapse. Everyone was assuming a playoff birth from spring training. I am not sure whether the 2007 Mets lost more games in the standings in September than the 2011 Red Sox. That's a close call.

Has anyone mentioned anything about the sox conditioning? I mean how else can you explain the way they are playing. Their studs are playing like duds and their duds are playing like absolute s***. Could conditioning and fitness be an issue?

With a seven-game lead on September 12, the Mets suffered a historic collapse by losing 12 of their last 17 games and missing the postseason. It is regarded as one of the worst collapses in MLB history.

They were up 7 with 16 games left in the season. I'd say that's a bigger choke than us. The Rays had about a month to catch us.

At least my redskins still there, and nobody gave them a damn! :harhar:

The chargers should easily win the AFC West and could possibly snag the two seed in the AFC. Keep the faith there.

Check this out -

Going into NYY on 5/13, Red Sox were 3-4 in last 7. After NYY series, Sox went on a 10-2 tear.

Going into NYY on 6/7, Red Sox were 3-4 in last 7. After NYY series, Sox went on an 8-2 tear

Going into NYY on 9/23, Red Sox will be 2-5 in last 7. We need to use the Yanks series as another catapult. Bad.

Incredible. They can't seem to beat anybody. If they back into the playoffs playing like this, they will be out in a flash. It's an embarrassment.

But stranger things have happened. They could back into the playoffs, and then suddenly get hot.

Any team that gets hot in the playoffs has the advantage. Look at the Giants last year. They couldn't do anything wrong.

It's one thing for the DH to be a little chubby, and actually Ortiz has been in better condition the last 2 seasons. Youk is too fat. Jenks is a cow who never got off his couch in the offseason, during spring training or the regular season. Drew is as soft as they come. He just disappeared off the face of the earth. Lackey is trimmed down this season, but his conditioning stinks. As good as AGon is, he needs to drop some weight or he'll be getting nagging injuries in a year or two. Lowrie is a physical wreck, and I am still trying to figure out how you break your back from pitching. Crawford was almost never injured with Tampa, but he pulled a hamstring in his first year here. There definitely is something wrong with the conditioning program.

The real problem is that none of the starting pitchers are conditioned to go deep in games-- none of them. A quality start for the Sox needs to get downgraded to 5 innings, 7 runs. It's a joke.

I hear that same crap every year. We suck in the playoffs and we'll never win a super bowl with Norv Turner. EVER.

Yankees come through with 2 runs. Still f*** them.
