9/18 Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Ray

Francona is allot more to blame this season than Theo. Throws too many close games away. Epstein has his share of bad moves as well. Not this season though. It sure would be nice to have Justin Masterson on this pitching staff. That was a great trade for a season and a couple months.

 

I've been watching Tito since his days with the Phillies. He was not a great manager then. The difference now is he is a lot chummier with the media. He feeds them a lot of mushroom fertilizer.

Not sure if this was a shot at me but I'm not embarassed to be a fan. Just I always get s*** for when the Sox do bad because a lot of my friends are yankees fans and they know I really like the Sox. Also I have nothing against Francona or Theo. I like them both.

This is my first Game Thread of the season. I don't know if anyone has enough mojo in the world to overcome this pitching mismatch of Wakefield v. Price

 

Timmy, if you have one good game in those old bones of yours please have it be today. I'm not talking about 4 or 5 runs in 6 innings. That will not get the job done. You'll need to pull out a 1995 vintage Wakefield start for this.

It was a mismatch from the beginning, but it looked like we caught a break when Price had to leave after 4, down only 4-2. I was very optimistic for a short while. However, Tito left the old fossil in the game because he had reached neither 100 pitches or 7 runs. When he hit 100 pitches, he'd given up 6 runs and the optimism was gone.

 

Wakefield doesn't have anymore good games left in him. He has been finished for 2 years. He has just been embarrassing himself and he doesn't give his team a chance to win anymore. It's time to walk away. He had a great career for a guy with no major league skills and a trick pitch.

 

People who say that he is certain to come back next season, because his is a good option for the price and in serious denial. It shouldn't be difficult to find a spot starter who can pitch to a 5+ ERA.

It wasn't a shot against you. If they happen to blow this, I'd get a lot of s*** too. I live in Orioles territory and since they suck, they'd need to find solace in something. Also a couple of my best friends here are Yankees fans. I've still never met a Rays fan.
