Sorry - first time on. Didn't see there was already a thread on Andrew Miller.

Now- at 10-zip - have Sox fans been put into uniforms and allowed on the field to play ?

Fans would be smart enough not to wear those ugly red jerseys.

Miller has always thrown hard, but he has also always had trouble controlling his fastball. I'd rather not have him in the rotation until he learns to repeat his delivery.

Good first post. I've seen much worse--from trolls with agendas.

Miller doesn't have the command right now to be starting in a pennant race.

Maybe in Baltimore or KC, yes. But not on a team in contention.

Part of this is contract. They are trying to hold onto him.

Maybe a part is ego, too. After Salty, Theo thinks he can strike lightening twice.

Looks like this lightening will be a lot slower.

He's been decent for the Sox.

He's still there because weaklings like Bucholz and Dice K are out.

Not that Dice K would make things better anyway.

IMO the Yankees got worst picthers and they still manage to be ahead of the Red Sox somehow.

The thing is, when the offence takes a night off is not only one guy. Its the whole damn team. And that usually carries over from game to game.

Maybe Theo spent too much money on hitters. Maybe he should've spent some on pitching as well?

The only reason NY is ahead of us is

A. Because we dropped the ball during that series, we had chances in games 1 and 3 but couldn't cash in, it wasn't us getting beat but us beating ourselves

and B. The 2-10 start, if we win a couple more games during that stretch, we're sitting in first right now with a decent lead.

No it's not a good first post b/c it was started as an reactionary thread . Miller had won 8/19 and 8/25. No need to encourage unecessary threads.

You cant use that as an excuse.

Total cap out.

The 2-10 start has nothing to do with it. That was then. And it specially doesn't matter when the Red Sox came back and were leading by like 3 games so that excuse gets thrown out immediately.

They are where they are now because they loss to s***** teams like the Pirates, Royals and Oakland, Astros and so on.

The lead would be intact had the Red Sox won games they were supposed to win. But they didn't.

Cripes. Look at the team stats. The Yankees are ahead because of PITCHING.

The Yankees have overachieved in pitching this season; the Red Sox have underachieved.

You can bet that won't show up in the pitching coach's performance report for the year.

Larry Rothschild has done a job on Young.

We also moved Posada out of the catcher's spot and put Martin back there. Martin handles a staff well and plays gold glove caliber D.

And the biggest disparity in ERA between the two clubs is in the pen. We are #6 in the AL in starter's ERA, only 0.15 ahead of Boston. But we are #1 in pen ERA, 0.58 ahead of Boston. And it wasnt even the biggest signings or the headliners. We lost Joba, who was throwing the ball really well, and Soriano was terrible early on and missed 2 months. It's been Rivera as usual and then a great cast of characters. Robertson has been otherworldly, Logan has stepped it up, Noesi was great as the long guy and two veterans found their stuff again in Wade and Ayala.

And the final reason for the pitching staff being better is the starting pitching endurance. We have 36 less pen innings than the sox, meaning our pen is fresher when they come into games, so they can dominate. Rothschild has been money thus far, but there are a lot of factors to our staff being so good thus far, and he's only one of them
