Navarro's shown something last couple days. I'd let him have a look at short over the next handful of days to see if consistent at bats get hnis bat going. If he can be anything near what he was in the minors, he'd be an upgrade on Scutaro and he's more of a natural shortstop than either Scoot or Lowrie.

Id be all for this, I don't see a reason to keep playing Scutaro over him at this point. I haven't seen much of Navarro, how's his defense?

Athletic. Average to above average range. Good hands other than the odd brainfart. Arm is high end, which is why he's shifted to third so well. He's at least in the "competent utility man" level of shortstop play which is the standard he has to meet here.

I've always thought that his mix of average or better tools, compared to all our great-tools-and-huge-holes shortstops, might allow him to slip through and steal a job. Yamaico Navarro has always hit at every level he's played, so he's easily our best balanced shortstop prospect, even though he isn't technically the most high-end prospect.

In case you're wondering why this is happening.

Castig in the early going mentioned that Beckett had never lost to the Royals.

Just FYI.
